View Full Version : CVSP: are they moving inmates out of state??
Maggie12 09-06-2006, 03:30 PM my fiance just called and said he was given a questionare asking which state he would choose if he was to be moved out of state. he said all the other inmates in his dorm were given them too. they said that due to overcrowding, they are moving people out of CA to make room. Any one else heard something similar from their loved ones? and is this even possible??
Mocksie 09-06-2006, 04:03 PM Hi Maggie,
Yes, I did hear something like that on the news the other day, however it wasnt a fersher fersher thing. Why, because the news stated which im looking for that link right now that i saw it on said the reason they were thinking of doing that, because over populated prisons; pro-qoute they were thinking of about building new prisons and openning up another prison that is closed down in So. Cali. I believe the news mentioned sybil Brand.. not sure on specifics. After all, the news only gives you what they want you to hear just like the govrnmt. Do you know or did he mention if all the prisons, what i mean was only the inmates in gyms or cell living as well? This isnt right personally. I can understand interstate compact but not move Cali inmates out of state.
~ as i speak im looking for that link and i cant seem to find it, but once i do ill post it..
hope everyone is having a great day..
okay, I found it however, it works when it wants to; why, because ive been on that site a few times and it comes up then goes back down. so you can go to www.abc7.com (http://www.abc7.com) go to the search engine type in prisons moving out of state and its the first one.. or you can try this link see if it will work for you http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/story?section=local&id=4347656

Maggie12 09-06-2006, 04:11 PM it seems wrong to me too. i know federal inmates can be moved around to different states, but i dont think they can do that with state inmates. i have a degree in criminology (i know, ironic) and im pretty sure this would violate a lot of laws. but then again, they can basically do whatever they want, so who knows. All i know is everyone in the dorm where my man is at CVSP got these forms. he said 300 guys were moved in yesterday and people are getting shipped out just as fast. i dont know anything about other cali prisons, i posted in the main forum asking and havent heard much yet. let me know when you find that link though!
TerriB 09-07-2006, 12:21 AM This is crazy I know they are asking for volunteers to transfer down there from other prisons right now also ... dang they can't make up their minds can they.
jdcjmc1 09-07-2006, 01:27 AM Just an FYI, it is not against the law it is what is called an interstate compact trade. We pay for our inmates to be in other prisons in other states. Building a new prison here would be great it would relieve overcrowding. Problem is they don't have enough co's right now as it is for prisons in California so building new prisons is not going to solve the issue. Is it a bunch of BS that we would transfer our lvoed ones out of state, yes. But what are we able to do about it.

Maggie12 09-07-2006, 12:00 PM currently they need permission from the inmate to be moved out of state according to state law. the legislature would have to vote to ammend state law in order to send inmates to other states against their will. that is my understanding at least. and yes, it is BS but youre right. there isnt much anyone can do, besides not vote for arnold again.....

azngyrl4yu 09-07-2006, 11:58 PM isn't interstate compact only for guys who have already paroled? not for moving state prison inmates around without their consent? Well that's what I thought.
saysay 09-12-2006, 03:53 AM Hi Maggie!
It's me Saysay. Check out this website www.sacbee.com (http://www.sacbee.com). (you do have to fillout a short registration form before being allowed to use this site). Click on politics and read the article about transferring prisoners to Florida and other states. Also there is a 4 series editorial talking about the CDC system and it is very interesting. I think we are going to see some changes to the CDC because people are fed up with Arnold and California's attitude about 'warehousing people' as its number one industry!
Hope everything is going we for you and your fiance! By the way, my husband finally saw his counselor. He has be classified as a level 1. His counselor is trying ti get him transferred to Chino or San Diego. Chino is only about 30-35 miles from me so that would be wonderful! I still have gotten a response to my visitor questionnaire, have you?
HaPpY's GiRl 10-26-2006, 02:35 PM Hey maggie, I know you post this a while ago, but inregards to the question you had, my man got the same form and he did tell me that too. According to it there will also be some time reduced from there time. I don't know how true it is but that's the info i got from him to.
TRISTE13 10-30-2006, 09:56 PM My man sign that form, but didnt think nothing of it and 2 weeks ago they called him out to go to commity and then after that they called him out for a physical and told him within the next couple of days he would be sent to wasco and then out of state and thank god he told them he changed is mind so nothing happened , but if the inmate volenteers they will transfer them to another state.
