It's about an hour and a 1/2 to 2 hrs. depending on how fast you go. You don't have to be on a list, but bring proper ID and dress appropriately. I've never taken a van service. Hope this helps.

J&J’s Van Service: (347)413-3002
Visits are always on Saturdays and Sundays and you are not allowed to visit your inmate every weekend. Visit’s are arranged according to the last digit of an inmate’s DIN number- even or odd… You can look up an inmate’s DIN number at the NY DOCS homepage... I tried to paste the link, but the site won't allow me to do so...
J&J’s picks you up at 170th street and Jerome in front of Sam’s Deli at around 6:30 or 6:45am… I went on Labor day, on holidays… all inmates are allowed visits. The ride up is about an hour and a half, visiting hours are 9am-2:15am and you should be back home by around 5pm- the latest since the bus picks you up at Ulster at 3:00pm.
This weekend coming up (Sept 16th and 17th)- only inmates whose DIN numbers end on an ODD NUMBER are allowed to be visited…
I hope all this helps, I had to type it twice since my computer froze, lol… PM me if anything. J

Hi Pieri,
My boyfriend was just taken to Ulster this morning. He says that he can get a visit this weekend. But I'm not clear on how you know which weekend is for inmates with DIN numbers ending in odd or even numbers. If it switches from week to week, I don't see how my man can get a visit this weekend cause his DIN ends in an even number. I was wondering if it mattered if inmates are in reception or are in Ulster to serve out their time.
Hope someone can help me with this one.
Thanks in advance.

I called them this morning and he can't have a visit until next weekend. I hope he's still there then. He wasn't too happy when I told him, but it's out of our hands.
