ANCHORAGE, ALASKA SYSTEM
PART 1 - LOL
I recieved a 3 year SIS for Felony Theft in AK. I was placed on probation in Alaska and allowed to goto Kentucky, I check in with my KY PO and followed all conditions set, this was back in est 1996. I had been having some mental health problems, later I learned was due to Bi Polar Disorder. To make a long story short the KY PO sent my stuff back to my AK PO. I called the AK PO and he said dont worry about it since I was in the hospital getting treatment. That is the last time I heard from him. I was again in and out of the hosptial and even on the street for about 7 months. I was worried about surviving and staying off the streets so checking in went by the way side.
In 1997 I was put on Social Security Disability (SSD), since then I have been hospitilized every year, sometimes more. I received a letter from SSA telling my that my benefits were being stopped due to and outstanding warrant in Alaska issued back in Feb of 1997. AK had issued a "Bench Warrant" for my arrest I guess for PO violation. After afew days of getting the letter I emailed my orginial AK PO. He acted like he didnt know what to do, even though he is now the Chief PO for Anchorage, AK. First email, was he would check on my status with the DA. NO ANSWER, emailed him again, he told me that he would check with the clerks office to see who handled the case. NO ANSWER, emailed him again, said we would have to wait for a answer on what to do and he and/or the DA would be in contact with me soon. 60 DAYS LATER, emailed him again afew times, NO ANSWER. So I emailed his boss, the Director of AK DOC. She sounded like she was going to help me clear up the matter or quash the warrant. about 90 Days later now I contacted her again about status and now she acted like she was too busy to deal with it and informed me that she was going to have the orginal AK PO attend to it. OVER 120 days now, no advice or direction from the AK Corrections Department. I called the AK DOC Commissioners office explained what happend and they said they would just refer it back to the DIRECTOR.
NO one in AK DOC is interested in a resolution to the warrant or situation it appears, what do I do. I still owe $4000.00 in restitution but can't work due to my illness. I've been on disability for almost 10 years now the orginial charge is 14 years old. I still probably have about 18 months to do as well. The AK CLERKS office suggested a telephonic meeting with the judge and I guess and other parties (AK DOC) so I wouldnt have to fly back to AK to have the warrant quashed or be arrested I guess. The AK DOC Director at the time felt that due to my illness and such they could get the warrant quashed, before she pushed my back on this SORRY AK PO. However that doesnt change my probabtion time or restitution right, which would violate me again, lol. Under special circumstances can the judge wave all of that? (Which I doubt). I was going to fly myself back to resolve all of this even if it meant doing the time. Am I wasting my time in Atlanta, GA where I live now? Has anyone else been in this situation, or can you offer any advice?
