Each institution is different, isnt he in a detention center? If so be aware that when he is transferred he wont be allowed to take personal property with him. Call the facility and ask if you can send a paperback then see if it is available in softcover. Try Amazon and they will send it for you. I seem to remember a post where you said he had just been arrested. If it is a religous book have him ask the chaplin and maybe they have copies available.

Are you referring to the muslim religious text, the Book of Koran? There will be copies in the Chapel or you can order it from Amazon,etc. It may be available in paperback.
