I am so frustrated right now even though I know it does no good at all. My husband just called and informed me that effective immediately, NOTHING printed off the Internet will be allowed to be sent in through the mail. And they mean nothing. Not so much as a newspaper article and this includes emails received from anyone that you might want to share with him so you don't have to try to rephrase the whole thing to tell him about something. Doesn't matter what the subject is either. NOTHING. Grrrrrrrrrrrr. This is at Easterling so I shouldn't really be surprised that she has come up with yet another way to take contact with the free world away. That woman defies description; it's unbeleivable. I would not be shocked if the next thing would be 'no pictures' or that every letter has to be hand-written. I HOPE I am over-amping but nothing surprises me anymore about her.
Thanks for reading and letting me vent! This comes on a morning when I already feel overwelmed so I"m sure it's not as bad as I FEEL like it is right now.

If you convert an e-mail message, story or article from the Internet to the same font as the rest of your letter, shouldn't it get through the mailroom?

We're lucky. It's no holds barred where my hubby is. The only things he can't have are Polaroids and pictures showing intercourse! He'd have a fit if they banned the horny stories, articles and intimate pictures I send.

well let me let you in on a little secret. I personally know people that have delt with Campbell in Tenn. He took away pictures on the visiting yard and only allows them at Christmas. So not sure what the deal is but if enough write the commissioner about this, I don't see how she can get away with it since it has not been passed as far as I know. I am gonna send it to my ALabama people and see what I can come up with.

Lay_dee V,
I wondered about that myself once I got over my mad-on so I'll have to see how it looks once I do it. I think in the beginning though I better not try it since the Mail Officer called my husband up to the cube individually to tell him because (as she said) "your wife sends you a lot of things so this is why I'm letting you know ahead of time so you can warn her" ~~ He told her he would call me today and tell me but if anything came through this next week since he called, would she just throw [it; the now-contraband] out instead of returning the entire letter to me. And she said "Don't worry about it, I'll take care of it." So I guess I'm cool for what I've already sent but it's not like it's contraband-contraband kind of thing. Good grief, the last thing I sent was information from the Parole Board site about procedure.
Yeah, pictures are still okay and the rule is that it can't show intercourse or if they are personal pictures, you can't be touching yourself. But we decided after something that happened a long while back that he did not want anyone else seeing what only he wanted to see. (Suspected that our mail was passed around and enjoyed). (Sometimes I put a note at the beginning of the letter in big read letters that says something like: "Question of the Day: Do you think that people who read other people's personally feisty letters were always sexual freaks or did they become that way from reading other people's personally fesity letters?" :-)

Thanks for your input. It helps me to work through this new "let's make them feel more inhuman" little bump in the road.

Vicki, I asked him if this was just at Easterling or was it a whole Alabama thing. And he said as far as he knew it was just Easterling. Thanks for taking action on this and seeing what's up with it. Please let me know what you find out. (Thanks). And good idea about writing to the Commissioner about it. Although I once called his office to ask about the fact that I travel so far to visit and why can't I visit on both weekend days since I am only there about every 4 months! And they told me that they have nothing to do with that, each prison can set up whatever they want insofar as visiting. Well, now that we are married, we can visit on both weekend days EVERY SIX MONTHS. Isn't that nice of them (sarcastic tone) ~~ They KNOW I travel and have to rent a car, motel, etc. and still won't back down and let us have a double visit each time I am there ~~ and yet there are those who live right there in the area that my husbands KNOWS they visit both days and some aren't even married. But to bring all that up will only make her dig her heels in deeper. I readily admit that that warden intimidates me because if she knew I was behind anything, she'd LOOK for a way to mess with my husband just to prove she has control and I am not willing to piss her off when we are so close to a hearing and probable parole. His record is so clean and the last thing we need is a drummed-up charge because she's still not sure that I realize she controls the place.
Anyhow, it will be good to find out what's really up!

My husband hasn't said anything about this - but from his experiences in 3 different camps, work release seems to be totally different. What wasn't allowed at Kilby was allowed at JO Davis and what wasn't allowed at JO Davis has been allowed at Loxley. I'll ask him and see if anything has been said one way or the other.
