Can anyone tell me how long a loved one can be incarcerated before he will be allowed a visit ?
I was also wondering how can I find out a list of dos and don'ts for visitors at Great Plaines Correctional Facility in Hinton, Oklahoma. It's a private facility and I can't find out anything about it. I am just lost. I thought I might be able to download a handbook or something. Anything anyone could share would be wonderful and greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi and welcome to PTO! I can't answer your visitation questions but hopefully other members here will be able to.
(There's some general information on Great Plains here in the Oklahoma Prisons (http://www.prisontalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=95708&highlight=great+plains) section).

Thank you so much for your response.
I just can't seem to get any information on specifics of policy and procedures there. I was told I could have my friend send me his copy of the handbook they recieved but they couldn't send me one.
I guess I will just have to wait and see if he can send me his. I have been waiting for weeks and weeks to get my background check approved and it's still not back. I know it's fine but it's just the waiting. I haven't seen him since June and I miss him so much. I'm just worried. I did finally get a phone call over the holiday weekend. I was on cloud nine. I can't tell you how great it was to finally hear his voice. But I don't know when he will be allowed to call again. Any information anyone has on Great Plaines Correctional Facility in Hinton, Oklahoma would be grately appreciated. Thank you !

Hi and welcome to PTO,ladyhart. We are glad you have joined us. I do not know about Great Plains, but I do know about PC. The only actual PC units are at Lawton and McAlester. Do you know why they have in PC at GP? It may only be temporary. It can take as much as 8 weeks to get approved to visit. I have found once you have been approved at one facility it is easier. Also used to (I haven't to get approved in a long time) when an inmate moved the first 30 days you could visit while waiting on your approval to go through. So you should have been able to go and see him all this time or at least during the first 30 days. This was true at the private prisons where Ronnie went as well as at the state owned facilities. We are LCF and I visited him immediately after his arrival and my approval came during those 30 days. You mights check with DOC on this policy and see if it has changed. Hopefully he will be able to tell you how often he can call. Sometimes it is not easy to get the guards to bring you the phone. If he is not on an open pod or cell block or whatever they call them there, then he doesn't have access to a phone unless they bring it to him to use from his cell. I am only guessing because we haven't done time at GP. Hopefully some our PTO folks who are there and if they are doing PC then they will help you more. Good Luck and if I can help or you want to chat just PM me. Later. HUGS
