my son called me friday night and told me that THEY had come into his dorm and told them that sometime this weekend ,145 inmates will be moved to louisianna. now i am sitting here waiting to see if he will be one of them.this is richard allens answer to the prison overcrowding.ship them out where it will be a bigger hardship on the families. i suppose riley must think that the inmates do not have family members who pay taxes and vote. i can tell you that if mine is moved, i will be down at my ledgeislative office doing whatever i can to have him brought back.i heard on the news the other day that the parole board has paroled 4 who had murder cnvictions.would it not make more sense to parole nonviolent offenders? on,well pardon me. i almost forgot i was talking about alabama doc. i don't know why i would expect them to make sense.
My son has been in 6 years and the last time they moved inmates out he was sent to Mississippi private prison. I must say those people there run the prison with respect for every one. As a matter of fact after they was moved back here I wrote them and called them personally and let them know what a great job they did looking after our inmates. I only wish our prisons here was run half as good as theirs. Not sure if it's the same in Louisiana but your right it is a hardship on the families. I read it was only going to be medium security inmates transferred. I have never understood the reasoning behind this. We just built a new private prison?

It is a different company that runs the Louisiana prison than CCI - it's called LCS or something like that, I forget what now. But what Lace said is likely true - the private prisons tend to be run a little bit nicer (cleaner, AC in most facilities, etc.) and the staff nicer (probably 'cos they're more well paid)...

bibb IS a medium security prison,or at least thats what their website says. and i know that ANY place would have to be run better. but i am concerned about what this will do to his enterning the crimebill program.he was expecting to go into it in october.and his release date is sept.2008.why would they move the ones with short sentences? he has tried SO hard.he has applied for every program he can get on. has award certificates and no disiplinaries. he got a couple of citations, but they seem to have lost those.

I just got a letter from my fiance too saying that they were going to move a total of 300 from there.I hope and pray he is not one of them. They are clearly not doing what the prison task force told them to do. ( And Mr, Barnett was part of the task force!) They should be letting 300 Good men out instead of shipping them off like a herd of cattle or something. I think the only way our loved ones will see justice is if this matter is brought to a higher court out of the state of Alabama. I think the Feds need to step in and take over.

ok stickvb, check the al.com website. the birmingham news,sunday,sept.03,2006.there is a new private prison in perry county ,just below bibb county which was built by the same louisiana company, lcs, in anticipation of housing our inmates.but because they could house them cheaper inone of the louisiana prisons, they are shipping them 500 miles away. now here is the kicker.the state is paying this same prison their asking rate to house illegal immigrants! while our american inmates live in tin boxes with no air conditioning or heat, and are served food not fit for human consumpsion, our government is paying what doc won't to house illegals in comfort.you just got to wonder who is in charge here!

I know proudmom, This whole system sickens me! I dont think they know what to do ( because its all politics) so their just not doing anything but passing their responsililties off on someone else. Alabama needs to take care of its own.
I know Bibb is a medium security prison my son was sent there after he returned from Mississippi stayed almost a year. He has been in 6 or 7 other facilities in the last 6 years you never know where they are going or why they are being sent to certain places. They do what ever they want when they want.
