MommaHen 08-08-2003, 01:36 PM Hi Jigger its is good to have someone who knows how things work in there I am sure you will get questions from us. I am Sarah and my fiancee is currently in THMU at OSP waiting transfer to a CWC. I am trying to get some pages up and running on my site to help loved ones of Oklahoma inmates find the resources and information easier than trying to navigate the DOC web site which can be quite confusing so You will proably hear from me again feel free to pm me or if you would like the link to my site is in my profile.

wannamae 08-09-2003, 05:13 PM Hello there Jigger! Nice to have someone here who can help with questions.
My Husband is in McAlister OSP, and has an assumed parole date in March 2005. We hope.
natsaunt 08-26-2003, 10:39 PM Hi Jigger Out
First let me tell you that I think it is so great you are offering your help, and anyone that would ask you to do something illegal would be just plain stupid in my book. :-)
My niece is in EWCC, after being transfered from Mcloud.
She was convicted of 3 robbery with firearm, I know that sounds bad, but as I am sure you have heard plenty of times before, she had a severe drug problem. She turned herself in after she had almost overdosed after she committed these crimes. She only had a pellet gun and only showed he handle, but that doesn't matter, the poor women she did it to didn't know that at the time, although one of them did chase her off, and my niece ran which tells you how scared she was doing this. Anyway, she was in a drug emergency treatment center in Tulsa, and then while the warrants were out for her, was transferred to Griffin Memorial in OKC by a County Sherff from Tulsa. She was there for over a month and then returned to Tulsa and turned herself in a couple of weeks later. She came before Judge Dexter who sentenced her to 5 years for each offense, but she suspended 5 years of that.
She was on probabtion during this time that she did the crimes for a prosession of stolen vehicle. Judge Dexter gave her a Judicial Review on August 25, 2003 and my niece has done very well in prison. Good write ups, got her GED and attended several other classes, such as parenting and domestic violence, etc. She went before Judge Rebecca Nightingale, as Judge Dexter had been defeated in the re-election. The Judge complimented her on her progress and told her to keep up the good work, but sent her back to do the rest of her total sentence, which is another 7 1/2 years.
The DOC had recommended that her sentence be cut in half, because of her progress and excellent write ups.
So now that i've probably wrote to much, my question is, what can I do? Can I try to get her another Judicial Review? Is there anything I can do to lessen the sentence or is she just doomed to be there for the next 7 1/2 years? The guards that were with her said they had heard rumors that the 85% rule was going to be lessened, but this is my first experience with anyone I love being in prison.
Ok, i'm ending now, but I want to end with telling you how wonderful I think it is that you are offering your expertise to us on this site, and thanking you for working in a system that paid you so little for so long.
Thank you for your time,
Natsaunt (Sharon)

My husband is at davis correctional center in Holdenville and doing great there getting to wonder if the state is going to have the money to pay for these inmates that are in a private prison?

Starchild 09-07-2003, 03:33 PM Hi Jigger Out
Great to have someone helping us on the outside:)
I have a good friend who is in OSP - big mac and he is experiencing real problems regarding trying to get his Level Status sorted out. His case manager keeps on applying new poliices to his sentance even though he started his sentance in 1980.....Can they do this - keep on applying new polices to old offences to keep an inmate constantly being punished for crimes they commited years ago? Is this legal?
Who are the best people in ODC to contact to get this injustice sorted out?
Look forward to hearing from you.

bikerbaby45 08-02-2004, 02:13 PM Hello Jigger, Glad you are here for us to confide in. My hubby is currently doing a 45 year sentence for 1st degree burglary. He is at James Crabtree in Helena, OK. But at least on good thing is he was arrested before the 85% law went into effect. He gets 44 goodtime credits for each month he is in as long as he stays on level 4. He actually only has to do about 4 years and 11 months to discharge his sentence. He has been in since May 1997. Thanks for offering your help! Carol :)
alan1969 08-17-2004, 09:41 PM Try looking up his name under offender information in the department of corrections home page

Berna 04-06-2008, 11:04 PM Hello to the Correctional officer
How do you suppose my, first time, white collar offender, husband will do there? He left Ga sick with pneumonia, and on antibiotics for two days...was sick during the trip to Pittsburg, survived the trip to oklahoma, blacked out on the plane when he stood to exit the plane. Think they will take care of this aged criminal? I just hope this facility isnt anything like what he has gone through for the last three months...he has lost 60 pounds..is the food good.He can only eat salads and meat....Diet controlled diabetic. Is two weeks there about standard? Sorry I asked so many questions..I have been with him for 39 years....I am worried.
irshnrse 04-06-2008, 11:45 PM Berna--Where is your husband at?
Berna 04-07-2008, 08:59 AM Oklahoma since last Thursday night. He is headed to Arkansas for fourteen year sentence. Our family lost both a husband , grandfather, and his brother also was sentenced to twenty years. It was quite a blow to the family, economically, and emotionally. We have quite a big hurt to overcome.
SophieJo 04-07-2008, 12:53 PM You're definitely in the right place Berna. We (and our families) know the deep and intense pain you're going through. It's as if you're grieving the death of a loved one, right? I always call families of inmates, and inmates, "The Forgotten Society." Our pain is very real but nobody knows about it, and if they do, they don't care. :( Surround yourself with friends and loved ones.
lilithinwaiting 04-09-2008, 12:09 PM Berna, you are in the right place. ((hugs))
irshnrse 04-09-2008, 08:05 PM I'm sorry you have to be here Berna. Is he federal? My husband and his brothers are all serving federal sentences. One of my brother-in-laws is in Arkansas.
Berna 04-10-2008, 09:06 AM Thanks for the warm welcome. I heard from my husband yesterday, he arrived in Arkansas on Monday night. I guess the whole local phone issue wont work with the Federal prison....he is unsure of doing that....
they need so many
things when they get there....
Its amazing. I guess he has to find a job...Kind of humerous, in a sick way..the Federal government has employed him for most of our lives..even educated him. Twice they cancelled programs to elderly or special need programs, and we were forced to move to another state to start over. This would leave the county or state out in the cold..no funds...now he is going to be working for them again. (Never say never again) I bet the pay scale is a lot worse now.
He has been so busy getting settled in, me...I am busy getting ready to turn my house over to my Uncle Sam...
My brother in law was sent to Butner NC, he had a lot of age related illnesses.Oh those golden years....Guess I should put a battery charger on the Harley.
Thanks again ladies, this place is a wealth of iinformation....very bright people. You know what they say, behind every inmate is a smart and loving woman. Naw...I just made it up....
irshnrse 04-11-2008, 08:29 PM Hi again Berna. You might want to check out the Federal Forum on PTO as well. They can answer alot more federal-related questions. Keep comin on here too though!!!!
