Does he have his state # yet? It seemed like it took forever for them to pick my husband up to ship to DOC. They got to know my voice real well while he was waiting to be transfered. I would call DOC weekly to get an update. Persistance is a good thing at times. I wish you and your family all the best! Good Luck!! Eric'smom 08-24-2006, 09:56 PM He has got his number has had it for a few weeks ,but no release date but I am not sure if I am calling the right people they told me today that there are 3000 inmate waiting and they are months behind who should I be calling how long is the usually wait to be moved ceehatch 08-24-2006, 10:13 PM Once he receives his number they should move him. Now when they do that... who knows. I always called DOC and talked to intake and classification. I believe it was like 3 months between my husband getting his # and him being moved into DOC. Then it was another 3 or so months before we got his release date, the reason that took so long was because one of the counties were really slow about sending his records to DOC. Don't ever let them intimidate you. You are doing what you need to do for your family. They have a job, and a part of that is to communicate with the family members. Good luck!! Open2Change 10-20-2006, 04:32 PM My BF hasn't received his number yet, to my knowledge, and we still don't know his release date. He's been in since 8/7. He is serving a 1-year active sentence...and we understand he'll serve about 85-90% of the year. Does anyone know if it's likely that he'll be moved? As it stand now, he has about 6-7 months left (as far as we know...as I said, no release date). And I don't want to call DOC; I'm afraid they will move him if I do. dwfighterva 10-20-2006, 05:06 PM Hi Open2Change! Welcome to PTO! If he has less than a year, he stays in the local jail. If he has 1 year or over, he will go to DOC. If you look in the Circuit Court Case Information (http://wasdmz1.courts.state.va.us/CJISWeb/circuit.html) you can find his case and see if the judge stated jail or penitentary. Either way, you don't have long before he will come back home. I am glad you found us! We will help you through it. txsfmhstn 10-20-2006, 07:23 PM :) Hello and welcome to PTO :) peapie32 10-20-2006, 10:12 PM WELCOME TO PTO!!!!!! :grouphug: ceehatch 10-20-2006, 10:24 PM Open2Change... I don't know where else to turn any one who knows what I should do please help What kinda s**t is that? My hubby is on meds and although they used to run out all the time at Fairfax ADC I never had to buy them. What meds is he on? Has DOC said why he hasn't been moved? How long of a sentence did he get? I know it took my hubby almost a year to get moved and the only reason they did it is because there was a big newpaper article and stink about people sitting in the jails for so long. That was 2002 though. I think it's time for you to write the Governor about the meds situation. That is total BS! Good luck and keep your chin up!! Eric'smom 01-19-2007, 10:30 PM he got 5 yrs 4months total . 14 month on his charges and 4 years on p/violation it was his first violation on a dui & eluding in 2003 we could not belive it when he got his hold time to serve . So he has allready got the 14 months over and now working on the 4 yrs now they still won't give us a release date until he is moved into DOC or that what I was told the whole thing is B*&&^%^* I'm so tired of fighting to get them to do the right thing barb-k 01-20-2007, 12:39 AM When my daughter was in Bristol jail and was pregnant and not getting prenatal care my other daughter started an email campaigne that was unbelievable... DOC was telling me that they didnt know when they could move her and so forth... so my daughter sent emails to everyone from the President of the United States on down to every Senator in the Assembly and anyone else she could find that had anything to do with DOC.... she was very polite and explained the situation and ask for help... needless to say all of a sudden my daughter was moved to a state facility... You might consider that.... also its an election year... try some of the major newspapers and see if they are willing to do a story for you.... Barb dwfighterva 01-20-2007, 12:01 PM I am so sorry you are having so many problems. You can check if he has a release date at the Inmate Locator (http://www2.vipnet.org/cgi-bin/vadoc/doc.cgi) on the DOC page. Put in his information and if he has a date, it will be the last thing right under where he is. That way you don't have to try to talk to a human at DOC. Thing is, unless the regional jail pushes someone to go into DOC, they will take their time. Yes, I have seen the statistics and see where a lot of guys are way past the 60 day mark and are still at regional jails. It is a big problem. The Richmond paper did a story on the overcrowding of the Richmond jail awaiting to go into DOC. Coincidentally, right after that article, about 60 guys from Richmond were sent to Deep Meadow. Hmmmmmm. As for the meds, the regional jail should be picking up the cost of those. I would send an email to the Governor. Can't hurt. He has helped before. Hang in there. ((((((HUGS)))))) Eric'smom 01-20-2007, 09:43 PM Thanks for all your advice , I will try some of the suggestions I was also talking to another MOM at visitation and she told me to be careful she had been calling different people trying to get help for her son who is also being held at nrvrj and he was but in the hole for 30 days no contact(phone or visits) was allowed and no reason was given I didn't think they could do things like that but we have to be real and know that our love ones are living in a different world that don't play fair . Daveswife 01-20-2007, 11:18 PM I can say we've been lucky, because with all the fuss I create over my hubby's meds, etc. the only place that "retaliated" was here in WV and they sent him to the med ward for 3 days and wouldn't let him take a shower. I have written to DOC to get my hubby transferred out of FCADC so he could be brought back here to face his charges instead of waiting until his release from VA and then having to start all over here. They moved him within a week of getting my letter. I have found that if you don't fly off and stay respectful while demanding action they are pretty good about it in VA. Stay on point and state your case clearly and specifically. Don't go into someone said this or that and go off on a tangent. Stick to the facts and keep it simple and to the point. And make sure you spellcheck. :) |
