Hi. My husband is in Old Folsom too. We have been hearing this for a long time, seems that it is really going to happen, we may not make it to our family visit because he may be gone by then. We will all just have to wait and see.

Hello. I have heard that this rumor has been going around for quite a while. There is a possibility they may be moved to either Mule Creek, Corcoran or Pleasant Valley sometime in the fall. It is part of the CDC program, Right Prison, Right Mission. I hope I have the name of that right. But then again, it may NOT happen, you never know with the State of California. There are lots of factors that play into this, so for now,I am taking it with a grain of salt.

pilgrim shadow- thnks for the response, but how far is mule creek from folsom?? i'd rather have my husband stay at FOLSOM, because it's not really that bad.. but the drive is more than 3 hours away for me.. i don't mind.. but this fall???

Lovingmyhubby07-I believe that Mule Creek is about another 30-45 minutes of driving time. That's all I know. But the rumors about the moves starting in the fall have surfaced again. I try not to think about it too much. I hope this helps you some.

Folsom prison to switch its inmate population
By Christina Jewett -- Bee Staff Writer
Published 4:42 pm PDT Monday, July 3, 2006

For 13 weeks this fall, Folsom State Prison will swap out its inmates for prisoners who have requested to be segregated from the general population for fear of reprisals or attacks, officials said.

The change is part of a larger re-alignment of inmates statewide that officials say is meant to match inmate groups with the state's 33 adult prisons, which are best suited to their needs.

Folsom State Prison, which houses 4,100 inmates, will be the first of the state's prisons to undergo changes, said Scott Kernan, deputy director of the adult institutions division of the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitations.

"We took the system down to zero, started building it up to getting the right population in the right bed," Kernan said. "The project took a long time. From that, significant recommendations were made. They made a lot simple common sense."

I believe it may be true. My ex who was just transfered to Corcoran wrote in his last letter that he may be moved to Folsom sometime soon. I guess they may be turning old Folsom to all PC. Not sure, but will let you know if I hear anything new.

Hi. My hubby is at old folsom. This talk has been going around for a while. And I believe I can say it is TRUE. While at our family visit, they were showing it on their tv channel for the prison. It said they will begin transferring inmates out later this year and it should be completed mid 2007. The whole prison will be PC, except for the camp and FTTF. Hope this helps....

My Husband wrote yesterday that they are going to start moving inmate on August 25 or something like that. He said they had seven prisons to send them too but didn't say which ones.

My boyfriend is at another prison on a SNY yard and was informed that his yard will have emerency commities starting Sep 19 and buses leaving soon after that for Old Folsom. This is good news for me since I live near the folsom area. Looks like this rumor is coming true.

How does your men like it at Old Folsom? Any complaints? I know it's old (hince the name :))without any modern day upgrades.

I did hear a bit more about the move. It is going to happen, that is what they are all talking about there. It was supposed to start last week, but did not. I heard that it could take several months, and PIA workers may be the last group to be moved. But still, no one knows where they will end up. Supposedly each one will be interviewed before the move. I am guessing the counselors will do that. But then again, this is the CDC you are dealing with, so all we can do is hang on and hope for the best.

lovingmyhubby07, unfortunately, yes, it can take a while before they see their counselor. Even with a request. But I will keep my fingers crossed for you. A PIA worker is an inmate who works for the Prison Industry Authority, where they make the license plates, signs, etc. It is a big program, with PIA programs in many, but not all prisons in California. Hope this helps a little.

My husband is PC/SNY in SVSP, and told me today that in two weeks they're going to start sending the SNY guys to Folsom, and everyone will be out of SVSP by the end of October. So it looks like it is true, which sucks for me, because it adds another two hours to my four hour drive.
