I found this article, published in 2004 by the Sentencing Project (taken over from Kluwer Int. Law) about a group of Lifers in the Midwest:
Some years ago while working for a Quaker organization,I helped to start a prison visitation program at a large state prison in the Midwest. Over a period of time, I had come to know a group of lifers at the prison who had organized themselves into a public education and advocacy organization.
