Hi,

My husband is at Old Folsom. You need to send the Family Visiting Confirmation Letter (the one that has the name of the visitors for the visit) to Officer Carryon (she is the family visiting officer) at:
Folsom State Prison
ATTN: Family Visiting Coordinator
300 Prison Road
Represa, CA 95671.
The (yellow) TCL/Family Visit form needs to be sent back to the cashier at:
Folsom State Prison
Your Husbands Name & CDC #
His building and bunk address
PO BOX 1790
Folsom, CA 95763

with a money order or cashiers check for the food that either you or your husband has ordered. He cannot schedule a family visit until he has turned in the menu (with the ACCURATE total, plus the 10% they add onto your total order) and he has to have enough money to pay for the food. Good Luck!!!

thanks for the reply...but i was wondering ... i got a packet that needed to be filled out by family member, then the next page is the family visting application and the last one was the food menu (orange)... my husband has already ordered the food on the list and he rounded it to 10%... so then i could just make a money order for 150 and it'll be okay.. because the amount of the food is about $123.91... i'm still new to this and my husband has already put a request to see his counslor but no luck yet... so im hoping that i'll get one soon....anything i needa knoe??? thanks..:)

okay, so you will be the family member filling out the packet  So just fill everything out and make sure everything is accurate. Send the TCL/Family Visiting form to the cashiers at the address i gave you , and the menu needs to go back to your husband, he has to sign the back, but if he has already done that (filled out a menu) then just toss that page out. Yes, you should be fine if you send in $150.00, you should have about $13.00 credit, and that will just be sitting there for your next visit so you will always have a little cushion just incase they need more money or your totals are not accurate. I always send in more than what our total bill is.

Why does he need to see his counselor? Does it have to do with this family visit? You can try calling his couselor yourself, and just ask if he is able to have visits. My husband has been trying to see his since he got there last year, and the only time he has seen him is when he first arrived, so good luck on that.

I hope I have been helpful, please let me know if you need anyting else.

Hi,

I just responded to another post you had :) Anyway, good luck with the Family Visit. It is confusing, but you will get used to it. I've been doing htis for 6 1/2 years, and I have another 6 to go. To answer your question about visiting on Labor day, yes you can. There are five holidays that you are able to visit no matter what day it falls on which are:

New Year's Day
Independence Day (4th of July)
Labor Day
Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Day

Where do you live? Does it take you long to get there? Well have fun and be safe.

I was curious as to why some ladies at Old Folsom get family visits every month and some every 3 mos. I would appreciate any info..
Also, does anyone know which Level 3 prisons are better for inmates?

wow, so every month some ladies do get fv?? wow, why is that..i heard that if the inmate has a job, they have it every 60 days and if don't 90 days.. well FOLSOM isn't that bad, because my hubby is a level 3, but maybe it's just me..:)

My husband has a job and we are able to have them every 30 days, but because of my job i am not always able to take off of work, and now that our daughter is starting school it will be more difficult. I live in the South Bay/Harbor Area near Los Angeles. I usually go Thursday - Sunday. I leave on Wednesday ( about 1 1/2 hours from my house) stay at my cousins house in Bakersfield, leave Thursday morning and drive for about 4 1/2 hours to Folsom, Leave Sunday stay and visit with my cousin again on Sunday and REST, then drive back home on Monday afternoon. WHEW, it's alot of driving and I get very :sleepy:tired, I am considering flying this time.

Glad I could help, but please know that every persons situation is different. I know some people who get visits every 60 or 90 days and their husbands have jobs too, one of them even works with my husband. I hope you have lots of fun at your visit!!!! Take advantage of the time you have together, it goes by so fast.

Eternity- Do you know why that is? It just seems strange that there isn't a set time frame for everyone who works..

Congrats on getting approved for family vist..:) well when my husband first got to folsom, he was able to get a package from his cellie.. then he order the stuff off from the menu and signed his part and i signed my part.. i've sent the package and the money order for the family vist.. my husband got a slip stating that the money order for the family vist got there.. i'm still not sure if the family vist coord. has looked on our package, but i'll call tommorrow morning and see what i can find.. but yeah, my husband's been in for over a month, and still no words from his counselor.. he's put in 5 request, but i guess she's too busy!!

Why do some people get family visits every 30 days, and some get them every 60-90 days? Does it have to do with the status of the inmate, job or anything else? Please if someone can help me with this I will greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Well if you look back on these posts, one of the ladies said that depends if your husband works in there or not.. i also think that it depends on how many inmates and schedule for family vists.. but i'm not sure... hopefully someone will come on hea and let u know..:)

Thanks Lovingmyhubby, I hope that the reason is for the job because my hubby is being transfered over there and I'm sure he'll be getting a job, plus he is doing half time, and he has no write ups.
