I'm getting desperate. My husband was finally released from prison in May. He has been in a halfway house/drug rehab since then. He is supposed to get out the end of this month, but if he doesn't have a job lined up (and approved by the parole board) very soon, they are going to send him to another halfway house. I don't understand how they expect you to have a job straight out of prison when you can't even go on any interviews. But my understanding it isn't what’s is important now. I need to find him work, anything at all just to get him out of there. I want our life back!!!! Anybody out there in my area that knows of any jobs where they’d be willing to hire an "ex-con"? (I hate that word). He has lots of experience in machine shops, construction, and car repair. He is willing to take a job doing anything at this point. Please help if you can!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks!!!!

When my friend was released, we searched monster.com (maintenance area, etc.) and forwarded his resume to jobs posted on the board. He was contacted by several. Man power - temp agency offered him a job. He explained his background, etc. It wasn't a problem.

Also, try viviting industrial areas, they appear to offer employment for those who have left the retreat (that's what I call it :-)

Do an engine search via mamma.com or info.com for companies that hire ex-felons, convicts, etc.

Try not go give up, for God will perfect that which concerns us.

Thanks for the tips! Things have changed since I posted. My husbands couselor talked the PO into letting him come home without a job. Needless to say we're thrilled. He has been home twice now for day visits. It's been really nice. But he still needs to find a job, so thanks again for the info, I'll start searching.
