This is my first time posting on this forum which is very useful by the way. My boyfriend is currently at the DVI prison in Tracy. I need to send dressouts, I did that back in December and they never gave him the clothes they ended up getting sent back to me. I called the facility today and was told you cannot send jeans. Which is what I bought because I didn't know but the woman was useless and confused. Is there a dress code for dressouts at DVI? Does anyone have any other resources besides calling them because they never know what's going on.

Just go by the same dress code as what the visitors are required to wear. You can't fail there. They don't want you sending jeans because the inmates wear jeans. Anyone walking around the prison grounds wearing jeans is going to be viewed as an inmate. That's why they don't let the parolees wear jeans.

Also, you are not supposed to send dress-outs until 30 days before the inmate's release. The prison will not accept the clothes if they are sent earlier than that. Make sure you write "DRESS-OUTS" all over the front of the box too.

Here is what the Title 15 says about dress outs:

3195. Release Clothing.

Inmates scheduled for parole or awaiting discharge may receive
a release clothing package via U.S. Postal Service or common
carrier no earlier than 30 days prior to their scheduled parole or

discharge date. Inmate release clothing packages, limited to one set of clothing, shall be retained in a secure location by the department until their release.

Call Receiving and Release Dept. at DVI and they will help in letting you know what you can send.
