I'm just wondering how many people on here have someone @ DVI in Tracy? My boyfriend is out @ DVI in receiving. I go every weekend to see him. He's been there since May '06 and is due out this December. We think he may just spend his whole term at DVI seeing he's only got 3 1/2 months left to do. Anyone else know someone in a similar situation?? Anyone go out to DVI for visiting frequently?

I visit there! My husbands there and has about 7 months left on his sentence. I go every other weekend.

Awesome you go and visit. DVI is the first prison i've ever been to, to visit someone. I have done jail visits, behind the glass, but never a prison. At first it was a little scary, all these thoughts going thru your head. But now, its just a little irritating. :( Hopefully only 3 1/2 months left of this.

mail takes about 4-5 days but i get his in about 3 days. I got approved in like a month or so it was really fast I thought.

I go every weekend as well. My appt's have ALWAYS been at 9:10am. My b/f's mother told me that she has gotten visits for my bf out at DVI, from a previous term, as late as 12 noon before. I dunno if that helps at all. I completely understand your FRUSTRATION w the phone system @ DVI for making appointments. I tried the whole time when ur allowed to scheduled appt's yesterday (thursday) for a saturday visit and COULD NOT get thru at all. I'm wondering if they had phone troubles again like they had a couple weekends back. Did you attempt to make an appt as well?

Hi - I have a friend at DVI reception. He has been there for a little over a month. I have a question...He was transferred from San Quentin. I filled out a visitors form to visit him there, does it carry over to DVI or do I have to fill out a new form?

Mamahaynes, was it approved at San Quentin or did you just fill it out and send it in? If it was approved it should just transfer over if it's been less then 2years...you can call DVI and alk to the visiting Sgt..

my man just got extradited from Idaho to reception in Tracy DVI.. Not sure how long he'll be there or if its just a layover.. How often do they get to go to the store there or do they at all in reception?

When I called to check on my son, they told me they went to the canteen once a month, and they do it by last name or cdc number, where my son is, he can only spend $90 a month, I still do not know where he is in DVI he has not said, he is busy asking for song lyrics etc..good luck

Hi! my husband is at Soledad right now, but is thinking of going to DVI. What is the visiting system like there for the mainline? Do you get appointments or do you have to stand in line? And how long do you usually get to visit for? Thanks.

To visit on the mainline their are no lines...you just walk up to the gate house and check in...then you just sit and wait for them to process you...the longes I've waited was 45min...usually 10min...

My fiance said the only thing he didn't like was how dirty it is...

well tomorrow morning I will be calling to make an appointment for the first time to visit my bf at DVI, I live about 2 hours away so I am hoping my appointment isn't too early. Can I ask if I can get a late appointment? And can I wear jeans or what should I wear?? (I already have a bra without the underwire). Should I get there a lil early? I am afraid of doing something wrong and driving two hours for nothing! Any info will help! Thanks!

all i can say is wear the safety color...black! lol it seems to be the only thing that you wont get introuble for, no jeans of any kind though. Good Luck!

Just some suggestions. I used to visit my son at San Quentin and at Soledad. I always brought extra clothes in the car just in case they didn't like what we had on. At San Quentin they were VERY strick about clothes and at Soledad they were not. Remember you cant layer tops. One women who showed up with a pink v=neck top with a white tank under it was turned away because the pink v neck was too low and the white top had only spaghetti straps. Together they covered up enought skin but seperatey they did not so she had to borrow clothes from a service outside San Quentin. Also, nothing even remotely military is allowed. One woman was asked to remove a cute jacket with some camolfage material on most of it. It also had pink rhinestones and pink roses.....oh well. THey say NO green because the CO's wear green. At San Quentin that meant NO green at all....no forest green, no olive green, no mint green, no kelly green, NO GREEN! At Soledad they let green slip by as long as it was not the same green the CO's wear. I usually wore black cotton pants, brown pants, grey pants or pink pants in the summer. Another thing they look at is your hair. It can not be all pinned up because they will ask you to take it down. They sometimes asked for braids and pony tails to be taken down. Better to be safe than sorry. At least bring basic black in the car so you can change if you need to. I hate for our guys to have to see us all in so much black all the time though. :rolleyes:

At DVI NO blue/black denim, and you can NOT wear the same colors as the CO's or inmates...greens, blues, oranges, and certain prisons won't allow white shirts.

My guy is at DVI, been there since Sept... haven't got to visit yet. Waiting for approval. They stay there until a bed opens up in the prision they are assigned to. May be a couple of months, the last time he was in he spent a year and a half of his 2 years at DVI.

At DVI you can visit Christmas, Thanksgiving, New years Day, Labor Day, and 4th of July alone with any holidays that fall on a weekend.

They also don't allow white T-shirts or any denim on any kind. Pretty much sucks. Doesn't give you much choice.

My boyfriend went to DVI for reception on December 6th. He was in a county jail before that and we could talk - now no phone calls for one week now. Ive gotten two letters. I guess the wait is on now. to get approved to visit, to get to talk, to get those letters... I guess visiting happens before talking. This is rough! Im hanging in there. I only need to wait until April, I think. I dont know how some of you do it. Best of luck to everyone getting approved to visit. Wish me luck too. I am hoping a miracle comes by and someone approves me before Christmas. We'll see.

It took 2 months for them to approve me to visit my son. I have no history of any kind, no arrests or anything ever and it took two months. They will not tell you if you are approved and they want you to wait until your boyfriend writes to let you know. Just remember, they might not tell him immediately SO what you can to it try to get through during the times to set up a visit....you have to call over and over and then let it ring for a long time too but once they answer you just tell them you want to schedule a visit. They will come back and say you are not approved yet or that you ARE approved. That's how I found out each week. Good luck.

ive been approved and get to see him on christmas day, but i want to know what i can wear? hes still in reception so its behind glass right?

My son just called me, he is in Z dorm, he said that he is not getting his mail as they keep moving him around Z dorm, he said that it is about 50x100 with 300 to 400 guys in it, the windows are broken out and the lights are so bad from all the spider webs, the bathrooms, there are 10 toliets and maybe 4 work, there are mostly non working showers and they are filthy, he said the entire place looks like a bad gas station bathroom!! He said the inmates clean it but it is falling a part and has large holes in the cement in the showers etc............god this is terrible!!

Pat, my fiance said Z dorm is nothing less than hell...I seen a news broacast about Z dorm and it showed everything you described...soo sad...Z dorm was the gym that they turned into a housing area...I will pray for your son and everyone in Zdorm...things really need to improve over there ASAP...

Anyone know what the conditions are on the ranch at DVI? Are they as described in Z Dorm?

My fiance moved to the Ranch from Zdorm...he enjoys it a lot better!!! The move has been wonderful for the both of us.

My boyfriend is at DVI since Dec.13. He is most likely going back to Folsom were he did his time before. I have not gotten any word from him.

He is probably in reception where he cannot call. You will probably be hearing from him soon. I think things are delayed over the holidays and will pick up again now.

Babyluvsears, you need to have the guy send you the visiting form...he has to sign the back...send it to you...then you fill it out completly and honestly...send it back to be processed...it takes about 6-8weeks to be approved and/or denied...if you are approved it is his job to notify you...if not they are supposed to send you a letter stating the reason for denial and how you can fix it...hope this helps...if you have more questions let me know!!!!

because your man is going to reception center, you will have to call every thursday and or friday from 8am to 11am to get a visit for sat and sunday. my husband has been in reception since oct. i dont know if reception center inmates are allowed to get family visits. but you can call dvi and find out. the number for dvi direct is 209-835-4141 and for appointments its 209-830-3900. but be sure to call the visit info line to make sure that they are not on lock down or anything its 1-800-374-8474 and enter 1,4,3. good luck

you have been approved for the other prison? if you have you should still be approved if not then you have to write him a post card or something. post cards usually get there faster then letters. mail is behind. well my husband is in east hall....its where they place dropouts and such. you have to have your man send you a vistation questionaire and make sure you sign it and that he has it signed. then just send it in and they will let him know that he got it and its his responsiblity to let you know if you were denied or approved.

my husband has been in there for a while but there are others that have been there for longer. he is suppose to go to Mule Creek but seeing how they are all packed up. he might just parole from there cause he only has 122 days left. so not much longer.

Alora, RCCC (Rio Consumes Correctional Center) isn't a California prison...so you will need to apply for visitation...have him send you a form ASAP...because the procssing there is taking about 6-8weeks...

thank you guys for your help. my husband was sentenced on march 29th and taken to the sacramento county jail where he stayed until april 4th then he was taken to RCCC (Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center) where he remains until he gets transferred to Tracey DVI. now i have the visiting form that i got from a friend, can i send it to tracy before he gets there or do i have to wait for him to arrive there? also do you know how long it will take him to get to tracy? and also how long will he be at tracy? he was hoping to get fire camp. the judge sentenced him to 5 years? has his half time started already or does it start when he goes to tracy dvi? i appreciate all the help!

all i know is your first question. you have to get a visitation form from him when he getst to tracy. because he has to have it signed already from when he sends it to you. otherwise i dont think it will be valid. and when you send it back they take it out and let him know that they took the form out.

but he has to send it to you from dvi with his signature on it already.
