Susan,
First you can call the Prison Inmate Locator Number (1-916-445-6713) to determine which of the 2 prison in Folsom, he is at. . Old Folsom or New Folsom (CSP Sacramento). Must have his CDC number. If he is at Old Folsom, I can help you. Call the main number 1-916-985-2561. At menu, choose 3 - Inmate Services/Records. Then choose 1 - Locate Inmate/Counselor/Report a Death. Whoever answers you can first ask them for the housing address for your guy and who his counselor is (ask for extension). Usually once they arrive, it takes about a week to 10 days before they have been transferred out of "Fish Row" to their regular housing. It takes that long to get thru the classification process.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Susan,
FTTP is a facility outside the "wall". I think it is associated with Substance Abuse Treatment. My guess at what it stands for is Folsom Transitional Treatment Prison, but I could be wrong. Visiting Processing builiding opens up at 7AM. Check with visiting processing to be sure when the first van goes to FTTP. (1-916-985-2561, Extension 4168). I usually get there around 8AM. You don't need to be there at 6:30AM to get a number like visitors who are visiting behind the wall. You just wait until they open the visiting processing door (usually about every 1/2 hour), tell them you are going to FTTP and come in. Along the wall inside will be some forms. Fill one out and take it to the first opening in the counter desk (closest to the front door. You don't have to wait to be called. If someone is already at the opening, just wait and you will be next. Give them your ID and form, they will check you in. There are bathrooms across the street from visitor processing up the walkway or inside the visitor processing building past the counter.
A van will come around the back of the building and you just wait until a officer calls your name. He will be located near the back door. Be prepared to take off your shoes, jacket, anything metal and go thru a metal detector. There will be a table for you to place your stuff on. Officer will check your ID, anything in your clear purse, etc. After he is done, you will go out the back door and get into the van. If there are two vans, you will have to ask which one is going to FTTP. The other van will be going to the "Camp". Camp is the minimum security facility also outside the wall. My son Kevin is there. They will drive you to and from FTTP. Very short drive. Enjoy your visits. Much less drama occurs at Camp and FTTP than behind the wall. Much more mellow.
P.S. There will be machines inside visitor processing where you can buy tickets (called ducats) for Polaroid pictures that are taken during visiting. Don't bother. My understanding is that they aren't available at FTTP.
PM me if you have any other questions.

Susan,
Forgot to answer all of your questions.
- Mail can take 3 - 4 week to get to them. Mail from them to you takes only a couple of days. Once in permanent housing, call records again for "housing address". In the meantime you can address it as follows:
Inmate Name CDC#
Folsom State Prison (housing address would go here)
P.O. Box 715071
Represa, CA 95671-5071
Once in FTTP, replace Folsom State Prison with FTTP
- Look for a post I created recently, it will show the clothing guidelines.
- Visiting at FTTP is face to face as far as I know. It is only when they are behind the wall that I have seen the "behind the glass" visiting.
Also, if you are sending money to put on his books, there is a different address:
Inmate Name CDC#
P.O. Box 1790
Folsom, CA 95763
Also, a new electronic method exists to get money on their books. It's called JPay. I haven't done it yet but I hear they get the money on their books almost instantly.
