Okay here goes...

One of my brothers had to get an FCC license for something job related. It was no big deal - actually much simpler than I thought. It got me to thinking (dangerous I know) and I was researching prison stuff on the internet and found that there are people who own "personal" radio stations that broadcast specifically to inmates, since at most prisons, inmates have access to radios or at least a walkman. Is this possible? I just thought it would be cool to be able to send love lines via the radio airways, even if it was only for a little while each day. Maybe have a specific time each day to have a broadcast.

I'm getting way ahead of myself, but wanted to see what you all thought. Anybody ever heard of this concept?

It's a nice idea. It would let the prisoners know that people on the outside were thinking of them. ---Ken

There are actually a number of these radio stations running already. We have one just outside of Houston that broadcasts every Friday evening directly to prisoners in the T.D.J.C. System. The link is already on the site. Let me try and dig it up real quick and add it here also. You can catch this show live on the internet. :)

If anybody is interested in doing something like that, I hold an Lifetime FCC General ticket, if it's needed.

Back in the early 80's I got my 5 yr and the FCC put out the word that anybody with a 5 yr (within a block on time) could turn it in for a lifetime General. I jumped on it and never used it. If things hasn't changed, those "personal" stations were limited to 300 watts and the only way to get any distance would be, on a mountain top or a very tall building.
