This is my first time in the DOC system. I posted a few questions on the introduction page. But I don't know if anyone will read them there. My husband is in Deep Meadows CC. I was wondering if

Is DMCC a permenate Prison or just a temporary holding facility?
Can an inmate request to be moved to another facility?
What type of prison is Newport News City Farm considered?
How can you tell when your release date is? (He got 2yrs from Portsmouth for violation of Propation, 1 1/2 yrs. in Cheaspeake for Violation of Probation, 1 yr in Newport News for Grand Larceny. That is a total of 4 1/2 yrs.) He has been in jail/prison since Aug. 27, 2005 and they keep telling us that they have not figured out his release date yet. ???
Will he do all of his time in the same prison are will each city move him each time his time is up for that term? ex:Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Newport News.If anyone out there can help me with my question I would really appreciate it. I am lost at this. I only have a cell phone so I can not get phone calls from my husband. I only have letters to let me know what is going on with him. I don't even know how to write him right now. He was just moved to DMCC on Aug. 2nd 2006.
Thanks for anything you can tell me...:banghead:

Hey again... I did reply to your last post... but I see you have a few different questions here so I'll try to answer those too...
1) DMCC is a classification center.
2) An inmate can pick up to 3 prisons that they would like to be moved to once they are through with their classification.
3) I'll look that up for you.
4) Depending on wether they are felonies or misdemeanors... usually 12 months or less is day for day... 1 year or more is 85%.
5) All of his time will be as one entire sentence... they will not move him for each charge... but DOC does move them around frequently.

Also... If you go through Prison Calls Online you can receive calls from him on your cell phone. You will find an ad of theirs here on PTO. I used them once and they really helped us out. Call DMCC and they will tell you how to write to him. Good Luck!

Welcome to PTO! ceehatch did an excellent job on the questions!

Unless his time is concurrent, then it all adds up together, one on top of the other. You could try to search his court information and see if it is consecutive or concurrent. That link is here (http://wasdmz1.courts.state.va.us/CJISWeb/circuit.html) Or you can call each clerk and ask them. At least it gives you something to start with.

Once they go into DOC (Deep Meadows) they will be processed there anywhere from 2 months up to about 6. Once he sees the doctor, he will be cleared for visits and you can go see him. Deep Meadow has a very small permanent population so chances are he will not stay there, but be moved elsewhere. Like ceehatch said, you can request ones, but they don't have to send him there.

I would also check the Inmate Locator (http://www2.vipnet.org/cgi-bin/vadoc/doc.cgi) page and see if his time shows up on there. It can be very frustrating to not have the answsers, so keep on asking them!

Thank you for answering my questions. I just got home from work and was amazed to see that I had "Answers"! Yes it can be just as frustrating for us here on the outside to not know what is going on, as it can be for our guys on the inside.
I did check to see what his time was and it is the one that runs one after the other Not together. And I went to the "inmate locator" that was awsome! but alas, it did not tell me his time, just that he was currently at the DMCC.
Thanks a million for the replies!
Have a great day, ~Z

my hubby was at City Farm a while back
and it was real nice
laid back and everything
but since they have had a few escapes they have changed some things
im not sure exactly how it is now though

hubby just got home from Indian Creek in Chesapeake
it was alright there
just intense programs that get annoying
but if he keeps his head straight while in there its alright
plus it only takes about40-50 from NewportNews to get there
