Hello,

No... they don't search cars. You can't come on the prison grounds until 6:30AM on Saturday and Sunday for visiting. You will see lines of cars waiting on the side streets and parking lots near the entrance to the prison road. There will be a CO at the beginning of the road into the prison in a truck with lights on top. When he gets into his car, turns on his flashing lights, and drives down the road, you can follow him. Next you park in the parking lot and walk towards the visiting processing building at the end of the parking lot to get a "number". If you are number 1 to 35, you come back at 7AM to enter the building to begin processing. If you are 36 to 70, then come back at 7:30AM, etc. The CO who is passing out the numbers will tell you when to come back.

Processing takes 30 minutes or longer, not too bad. After you get checked in, you will be escorted down to the prison where you will will go thru a metal detector, ID check and you will get your left hand stamped then they will walk you down to visiting (both indoor and outdoor areas). Your husband will come out of a door (behind the CO in the middle of the room) in the indoor building. You just sit down and wait for him to come out of the door. You can get a tray and any food you think he might like to eat. The food vendor will come several times during the visit to re-stock the machines. Best selection is right after he has re-stocked or as soon as you get there.

Terminations are common, especially in the summer. First checked in, first terminated (assuming that you don't live 250+ miles away). They usually start terminations at 11 - 11:30AM.

Hope you have a nice visit. If you have any questions, PM me. I don't log into PTO too often.

Good Luck, Charme:)

I believe gray would be okay they just don't want you wearing anything that resembles any of the clothing inmates wear and i think capris are okay> dress code says not anything to short by when i visited my husband at corcoran i wore capris he's at folsom now but i only have visited once. BUt i think capris ore okay

Given the heat, I only wear capris, so they are fine. Grey is ok but I don't think it can be grey sweat pants. I have posted in the past a list of Old Folsom's dress restrictions. Maybe you can search for it. The only think that has changed is no Hats.
