I have cox communications phone service, and it has been wonderful. I have had no problems with getting calls from my boyfriend while he has been in. I called them when I found out what prison he was going to be at, and they handled it from there. They send notification to the prison that it is ok for collect calls to come through so by the time your calls are approved all blocks are lifted off the phone. You just need to make sure and contact them when you know what Prison he is at. They even called me to verify that I was getting collect calls from the prison..They are great!!

I have had Cox phone service in the past and didn't have any problems, either. You can just call Cox up and order their phone service. You can even keep your same phone number. :)

The good thing is you can keep your same number, and you do not have to get a new one approved. Just cut off qwest, the same day that cox will become your new service. Before cox connects let them know that you will be getting collect calls and they will have the blocks all lifted before they connect

Thanks. I was wanting more info on phone services.

Wish me luck. I did sign up with Cox, but only for the internet service that is on special right now (9.94 then up to 14.95 after the first three months). I'm getting a new phone service with an online company that is unlimited international and local service for $24+ change (but with additional unpublished offer will drop to $14.95/mo)! :0) all options included. I am excited. Cannot beat that cost, huh?

Yay!!! I might finally be able to get calls from my honey! :0)

Thank you for the info. I didn't know this but then Tmobile doesn't either, but you can use them as t-netix bills separately. maybe this works the same way? Anyhow, my husband said not to worry about that. I encouraged him to set up inmate billing services. He again said not to worry about, that as long as I set up a phone service, that it'll work out. We'll see what happens. I had over a thousand dollar T-netics bill before and wrote it off in the BK... so I cannot use them anyhow. :( He'll have to take care of the funding beyond this. He said he'd paid before, but didn't... So again, wish me luck!

I have cox....what a nightmare i have had. for my collect calls it is all prepaid they dont allow 3rd party billing in my area and they screw my phone up at least once a week. last weekend they disconnected it and then i lost my # luckily after HOURS on the phone with them they were able to save my # i was not about to lose it and go through the whole phone # approval process again. my parents however have had cox for YEARS and have never had an issue.

I just am soooooooooo sick of when i am on her phone "who you talking to why are you on the phone now blah blah"

I have cox and have had no problems until today - well last night I guess. My hubby tried to call and kept gettting a recording that my number does not accept collect calls - WTF? I've been getting them for months! He told me this at visit today. I called and the cust service rep said there were no blocks but I would need to talk to a technician to verify - have to do that tomorow.

Same thing happened to me. Call Correctional Billing Service. I don't know just how it happens. I had Cox for 2 years then all or a sudden my husband got that number is blocked message. I too called Cox and they told me too that my number was not blocked. When I called CBS they told me I had a unpaid $28.00 bill (for which I was never billed) so I paid it and signed up for a CBS prepaid account and have had no problems for the last year.
