The chain is the way you get to prison. I don't think you can request to specially be taken there. For reasons of prison protocol, security, cost effectiveness, etc. they just take bunches of prisoners all at once on what's referred to as "the chain." They don't let a long time go by between sentencing and transporting a group to prison, though, here in Oregon. It usually happens within just a few days to free up the jail space.
