Can anyone tell me why some are fought for harder than others? Why isn't everyone fought for with the same intensity as Napoleon Beazley?

I don't have an answer Joy. i think a lot of it has to do with who gets media attention.

i wish i knew it, its my biggest frustration.

I also wonder. I guess the more people a death row inmate knows, the more change he has that people will fight hard for him. I know that there are death row inmates who have no one to write to, so no one that will fight for their cause.

i think sherri has a good point ~ if there is something "reportable" about someone's case (age of offender, mindset of offender, really questionable evidence) there is apt to be more media attention, and therefore, more people are apprised of the situation, and the ball keeps rolling. there are loads of people on death row that we never hear about. my friend is on death row, and besides the one show i saw, which mainly focused on videotape evidence and not him is no where "out there". he was shocked that i wrote. maybe we should all take a moment and write to a death row inmate that is not on television or in magazines or on a penpal site...?????

I agree with you April..... that's why I picked someone that had no one. You would be surprised as to how many people on Death Row whose family has up and abandoned them. However, what I keep thinking about over and over, if Texas went ahead and executed napoleon Beazley, then I don't think anyone else has a chance. That really scares me. I try to stay positive for the guys I write too, but it's hard on my end because I know they don't have a chance and I am going to loose them. They have become such a part of my life. (I only write two, it's not like I write to a lot of guys) I don't think I could handle writing any more, It is going to hurt when they are executed.

YES, MEDIA ATTENTION COMES BECAUSE OF JUST WHAT THE GIRLS SAID.... SOMETHING DIFFERENT ABOUT THE CASE..... ARE THEY YOUNG, IS THERE MENTAL INCAPACITIES IN THEIR PAST.... THERE ARE SO MANY WAYS TO GET MEDIA ATTENTION, BUT IF YOU DON'T GET ANYONE TO GET ON YOUR BANDWAGON, THEN ON ONE WILL HELP...
