I'm trying to locate a few elderly inmates in the Virginia DOC. I'm interested in this issue of paroling elderly inmates, since they are said to be of little threat to society and can save the state money.

Is there anyone out there with elderly loved ones in Deerfield or other VA institutions?

I've never heard of this....what age would elderly be?

Some states have in place or may be considering legislation related to the conditional release of geriatric prisoners. One VA law makes certain inmates (other than Class 1 felony) eligible for conditional release if he is at least 65 years old and has served at least 10 years of his sentence. See House Bill 1762 "Conditional release of geriatric prisoners
