Has anyone noticed the difference in the guards upon arrival at EKCC in the last couple of months? Have they been stricter and noticing more detail than usual? I have had trouble entering several times in the past couple of months and I have been wearing the same type clothing as before. But the lady at the front always seems to try to find something wrong with me every time. Have you had any similar experiences??

I don't know about Eastern but anytime you get a "rookie" guard they are like that at first. OR maybe the Deputy Warden of Security as came down on them pretty hard. Either was I know it's a pain.

I always thought the lady guard at the desk at Eastern was really sweet. It was the male guards that were aholes to us. I find Western way more stricter on trying to get in on the dress code.....

Hey there
I'm new to this site, but I just got back from visiting my husband at EKCC, and I had a very wonderful experience for all three days. The last day there, I was crying and sobbing, and I grabbed Jesse's hand and held it for at least an hour, and they didn't say one word to me. They knew I flew there from Oregon, so I think they felt sorry for me!

Larry's Lady,
I have never had any experience with Eastern, however, when I began to visit my ex-husband at GRCC, things were great, but, the longer I went, the more regular I became, the more problems I began to have...

I am sorry for your bad experiences...I hope they get better for you!

:( yes i have noticed changes here lately at EKCC.
my son has been there 4 + yrs . There is alot of new gaurds there now, since alot of the previous gaurds transferred to Little Sandy located in Elliott Co Ky. the next county over from EKCC.
Also the Prison personnel changes the gaurds every so often to different areas of the prison every so often . (unsure of the actual mths etc of changes) If any of you notice, that has visited there for very long, there is NEW GAURDS at the front desk now! (rookies, i suspect) Not the friendly small blonde lady, or the friendly older guy that used to be there. They had been at EKCC awhile, and weren't so UPTIGHT  . it seems these new gaurds love to give us all a HARD TIME ! they think we can't walk anywhere by ourselves, without thier escort. ha... my son is in solitary confinment and has been almost 9 mths + or - a few days. He still has til approx. 2009 in "solitary" they keep writing him up for any thing or everything! (once you get in, its hard to get out) Here recently they have cut the visiting hrs dwn, and we don't get to visit as long as website of EKCC allows.
I'm told if we all complain to frankfort enough, they will have to allow ENTIRE visit . I'm new here, but I want to THANK prisontalk, for this site. God Bless you!!! also anyone that wishs to email me , feel free to do so. We need each others SUPPORT!

He works as an Adjustment Officer for one of the facilities. He is very polite and willing to help us. Now I remind you he is prison staff so he has a little bit of a different point of view but I believe he has the right idea about us and our loved ones. I like having him around.

So how do you all know so much about these folks? I don't have a personal relationship with any of the guards or Sgt or anyone at EKCC. Some of them are nice but there are others who wont even hardly speak. I just act cordial to them all and enjoy all the time I can with my man. He often tells me about some of the guards and which ones are okay and which ones are rude and mean. But it seems like the women give me a harder time than any of the men have.

08-14-2006, 08:20 PM
we dont know alot about him. all we know is Sgt came in here one day asking question and we answered them and i sent him a couple messeges asking what happened to him and he said he had to go out of town for some family it is on one of the other messege areas and he said he was an adjustment officer but we do not know which facility but it does not matter which one. i like him and wish him to stay. that is all there is to it larry's lady. oh and my man tells me the same thing about the guards where he is at. but for me i dont have any problems with any of them.

I was starting to wonder about him too. I hope everything is okay his way.

That makes two of us WaitN. I haven't seen him around lately either.

As to the changes at EKCC, they are just like changes at any facility. When the newbies come in they tend to go by the book and are more strict. Also even the seasoned guards when they take over visitation for the first time, I get the impression they want to just show their authority and let us visitors know who is in charge.

Things will settle down with time.

I know we have one female at Western who seems to go a little beyond just patting down for visitation, but I guess she is just following the rules to a T and dotting all of her I's. We all know what the drill is and if we want to visit, we just have to go along with it. Like hubby tells me that is their house and we have to do as they say. We don't have to like it, just accept it if we want to visit.
