Here's a brief summary of the situation I'm finding myself in: my ex is Canadian, currently doing time in the US. After his release, he will be deported to Canada.
We have a 3 yr. old daughter together; she was born over here in Austria and is an Austrian citizen. I have full custody of her (not by court order, but being that Jules and I weren't married and he was already doing time when she was born, he was unable to sign the legal paperwork; his name doesn't even show up on our daughter's birth certificate or anywhere else for that matter; she has my last name).
Now that he will soon be released, I'm wondering if he's supposed to pay child support and how much? Maybe someone could tell me about the child support laws in Canada and/or provide me with a link?

Your help is greatly appreciated and much needed!
Thanks a lot in advance!

Sorry that I cannot offer any actual advice but here is a link to the federal gov site about child support.

If the information that you need is not there you may try to email the Canadian Department of Justice...?

Are you currently living in Austria??? If you are then you might have a tough time getting an order enforced. If he fought having to pay you'd have to prove he is the biological father since you don't have his name on the birth certificate and she has your last name. I doubt that all of this would be worth the costs you would have to incur just to get it done...it would be different I guess if you were living in the same country - you might be able to get something enforced...but check with the proper authorities...but don't be surprised if they tell you the same thing I did.

Thanks for the warning, Abrose. I will definitely check with the authorities some time this week and I'm hoping it won't be too difficult to get an order enforced.
