Stephen is in the Hidalgo County Jail and the phone system they use there is Evercom! well when I heard their rates I jumped for joy..no more than $2.25 per15 minutes..sounds pretty good compared to other jails..right? wrong! In the middle of the 15 minutes your call can be randomly terminated..but..you will still get charged for the whole 15 minutes. A woman waiting for visiting made me aware of htis and she said you have to raise Holy hell to get things adjusted..but it can be done! I got my bill and calls for just 1 minute were charged the full amount...I always thought things were basically fair in life..until I came in contact with the texas prison system...YUCK! Is there anything that can be done, I am sure there are plenty of families getting ripped of...it is so ironic at the end of the call they THANK you for using Evercom .....
