I have been wondering for a while why metered envolopes (prestamped-from a stamp machine) cannot be sent, but we can either purchase them prestamped from USPS or buy stamps and envelopes and send them.

Can someone tell me shed some light on this? I know not everything about the CDC makes sense, but this has me FLOORED!!!

Thoughts and ideas please

IT depends on where the inmate is. My brother was first at SQ reception, he could receive pre-stamped (from the postoffice) envelopes. Now he is at Susanville and they don't allow any envelopes so all you can send is stamps. Just depends on the prison.

Yes I wish they could at Avenal. I have a machine at my company that I use for mine, but have to get his at the post office.

I sent hundreds of metered envelopes to my guy in Chino that i posted at work. I omitted the date most of the time but they all worked either way. I have sent the same envelopes to New Folsom, and some other prisons but I can't remember right now.

I do not "know" this to be the case, but since Metered envelopes, I think, have a date and location of origin, it's possible that is the reason why some prisons choose to disallow them.
And a clarification... MikesSis mentioned that Susanville does not allow envelopes at all- That is true at CCC, Susanville but is not the case at High Desert State Prison.

I am tring to send my husband some at SAlinas Valley right now so I will post what happens if he gets them. I was also wondering about the zip code on them since it does say mailed from 95153 on them. I mailed these envelopes for my own mail from LA and it got to it destination so I wonder what will happen?

Be glad they let you send stamps or envelopes.

Many states (including Kansas, Texas and Michigan) don't allow either.

Thanks for clarifying, I will try and remember the to clarify CCC or HDSP in the future

I went ahead and sent 5 in an envelope about 2 weeks ago and I haven't gotten anything back :)

Because if I can it will be great!!!!

Are you able to send metered envelopes to Delano or any stamps and paper at all?

Is he is reception? Actually, before I answer, I believe Delano has a thread and it should have up to date info on what you can send based on where he is

Neither does Missouri :blah: , which s*cks, since a friend of mine in there is indigent, and I am unable to send all that much money with the fees and everything, but I have tons of stamps sitting around, but I can't send them to him, so I am not able to hear from him that often anymore:( .

Kitten, that's new one for me... I've been able to send them to all 3 places he's been, but Avenal wasn't one of them.
