yes, please let us know...my brother goes before the board on July 12th and he has asked me to be his spokesman. I have no idea what to expect or what they(board) expect. We also have to be at Cummins at 8 a.m. that morning, but my brother says there are two other inmates that are also going before the board that day. I will be keeping you and your son in my thoughts...

We got back around 2 today but I was so sleepy I had to take a nap.We got up at 5am we were at the gate at 8am along with about 50 others.Anyone can go to the parole board you dont have to be on the visitation list to go.They do search everyone but they dont check IDs.You sign in and out.We sat in the visitation room with my son and visited with him for about a hour until they called his name. They go in alphabetical order. There were about 21 going up before the board today. There was only 1 board member there plus 2 others they are not on the board but they are asst.I turned GWs support letters directly to the board member. We all went into a conference room. The inmate and who ever is going to speak on the groups behalf sit directly in front of the desk. They asked my son to introduce everyone that was with him today. They then asked him what programs he had completed already. They asked him how long he had been in SATP and how much longer he had in that program. He was allowed to speak freely about the programs he has completed and about what good SATP has been for him.The I was allowed to speak and ask questions if I had any and then they asked his sisters if they had any questions.I had already been told that they what to know what kind of support system the inmate will have upon release. All this took about 15 - 20 min. They said the results will be released on july 5.I also know that when they have their monthly meeting Thurs they will have already voted.

I want to thank all of you for your support.Hopefully GW will be home in 35 days.He was telling me today that he has not seen anyone released on their date yet.It is either early or late.I am hoping maybe his will be a little early. My son was also telling me that if they do approve him that I will need to call community corrections and see if I can speed up his Parole officer. It will more than likely be the same guy that was his probation officer. If it is he will have to walk the line when he gets out.I ran into a girl yesterday I didnt know her husband was in.He had been on probation,he had turned himself in on some fines was granted work release. He was fired from his job while on work release and this same probation officer sent him down because he lost his job. They wonder why the prisons are so full. She was also telling me they released him May 23 on a monitor until his # came up they paid $160 and 9 days later his # came up.This system just amazes me.

Thanks Karen...sounds like the meeting went rather well. How many supporters were there for your son? My brother goes up July 12, and so far just family alone, he has 12. Mainly 6 siblings, mom, dad, and step-mom, and friends. Did they ask you any particular questions? Congratulations, let us know the results on July 5th. Since I have registered on this forum, I eagerly await to read others' results. I haven't posted much, but I am reading and everyone seems to have become part of my life. God Bless you and your family.

Karen, how many support letters did you turn in? My brother turned all of his papers in with his executive clemency papers, but I believe he has all of those with him in his barracks. I was wondering if we need to get some more support letters. I think he already has between 150-200.

We didnt have that many support letters.I had 12 and I turned them in right to the board member and told them it was for GWs file because I had copies of all of them.I was selective about who I asked to write a letter. All that went with me was my 2 girls and my 2 grandsons. It was hard to ask people to take off work and go that far.He will be living with the ones I took with me and myself upon his release and I was told that the board wants to know that they have lots of family support on the outside as well as community support. What their plans are for the future. They also asked him if he had learned anything from the programs he took. They were all nice. There were 22 inmates for them to see they saw us at 1030 they had 5 to go when we left and they started at 9.It doesnt take long.
