 I called the unit like they asked me to, today...and I was told that they have not received a visitor card from my husband yet. I know my husband has filled out a card at least by now! I haven't seen or spoken to him since he was taken away. God, I hope he's okay. :( :( :(

(((HUGS)))... I am sorry you aren't able to go see your husband this weekend. That really sucks. I hope you get to see him soon :)

Also I would take some comfort in the fact that they called you and said you couldn't visit for this reason. If there was something that had happened to him they would have told you then. If you are not sure, you can always call back and ask them to ease your mind.

Good luck!

Erin

If it's any consolation, my husband wrote and said they have been in lockdown since June 19. He said it would be approximately 5 days...so this could be the cause for them not getting your hubby's card. Hang in there...everything will be normal soon...by my calculations the 5 days is up today!

Yes, Middleton and Robertson both have been on lockdown. There are some major "issues" going on right now and things are kinda touchy. I'm visiting tomorrow and I'll find out if they are off lock down now. Mail hasn't even ran right this week or I would have known today.

I'll be there on Sunday Perry33103, and my guy will give me the low down too. There is always some different rule being enforced each time I go (which is about every weekend). My guy said that he hasn't recieved any letters or books from me, and I know I sent them...so the mail must be on delayed delivery. I get his letters within two days. Hopefully we'll have some sort of answer this weekend. :shake:

I'm actually worried about the heat in the dorms. He's said they can't take showers and the bunks are really hot. This is inhumane, and dangerous. But we all know this. It just doesn't make it easier. :broken:

Ok, everything seems to be back to normal at the Robertson unit. They were locked down this week. There is something going on with a couple of gangs, but I think its been taken care of now. They also had the water shut off all day on Thursday and my husband said they didn't even have any water to drink. I'm glad that it was cooler and cloudy on Thursday! That was shut off because of a break in a water line though, so thats something that can't be prevented. Hope you have a good visit Phantomswife! :) I go every weekend too, are you going to the Robertson unit or the Middleton?

My friend at Neal said a lockdown is coming up in a couple of weeks. I'm not sure how that will affect mail, visits, etc.

My husband was at the Neal until January this year. Their lockdowns never affected our visits, and as far as I can remember, mail still ran on schedule. I sure wish my husband was back at the Neal........Robertson :yuck:

Perry 33103, I go to Middleton just about every weekend (Sunday generally). I will give a report tomorrow evening on the situation there. I guess they have to have at least one lock-down every six months, whether they need it or not. My guy has suspected that one was coming for the past 3-4 weeks. Glad to hear that things are normal at Robertson though. Hope your visit was great!

Where you able to visit?

Yes, and I PM'd you about it. The lockdown was only until Friday afternoon. They had a state holiday on Monday - Emancipation or Juneteenth.

Everything seems to be normal  again. It was rather slow for a Sunday. We had a good visit, and I'm glad that he is not in that hot dorm all day. Let me know if you plan to visit next week, and I'll look for you

ladies Middleton Goes On Lockdown Like At Least Once Every 6 Months Thats Just The Norm For Them, Plus The Warden There Is Still Fairly New And Goes Srtictly By The Books.

I can always tell when the warden has had a meeting with the CO's. Last week the CO had to completely search my car - glove boxes, back seat front seat in addition to the usual raise the hood and look in the trunk thing. She was pleasant, and recognized me - I'm there about every week. The new warden must be really coming down on them about the "rules"...otherwise the guards were just as pleasant as always. I do feel for the guards when I see them hustling like that.

Every unit in Texas goes on lockdown twice a year for semi-annual shakedowns. It is policy and very normal! I have never had anyone at Middleton or Robertson search the inside of my car nor have I seen them doing it while I was there and when I worked visitation on few occassions at Clements we never did either but the new warden must be scared of making a mistake. I feel sorry for the officers and the inmates, it all goes downhill you know!

You are so right...it goes downhill all the way to the families that visit. Now, with the Texas heat escalating, I'm really concerned for the guys (my husband especially) in the dorms. I feel guilty being in a/c with fans, when I know he is suffering through the heat there without those benefits. That should not be part of the "punishment" phase. I only hope someone has some compassion and allows them some sort of relief via showers or ice...but I think that's too much to hope for. :broken:

Do most of the units search your car? I have never had my car searched at the Torres Unit in the 8 months I have been going there.

Jojacks, I know that both Sanchez and Middleton do a brief search. And, until last weekend, Middleton did only the "under the hood and trunk" type of search. That's why I was surprised that the CO did such a thorough search of my car, which was the only one there at the time, and she had recognized me from previous visits...I am a model visitor :D.

I am having to visit my parents up North this week and won't be able to visit my guy for two weekends...I wonder what kind of change will occur when I get back to my weekly visits at the end of this month  The warden already has strictly enforced the dresscodes to the point of ridiculous. Like I said earlier, we always know what the warden lectured the CO's about when visiting...they act quite different from week to week. Well, that's my vent...thanks for listening.

We have been going to several units since November, every weekend, and they always check under hood, in the trunk, back seat, front seat, between the seats, floorboard, side door panels and glovebox. This is at Woodman, Hobby and Halbert.

Well, you never know, the next time I go visit the may search my car.

The hood and trunk are standard and they should do this going in and coming out, though at Robertson I know they don't going out. Have never had the inside of my car searched but they can have at it if they want, got nothing to hide and they can deal with my 3 yr old telling them off because she is ready to see her daddy. But hopefully I won't have to go again and will just be going to pick him up and bring him home.

Speaking of dress codes a guard at the Lindsey State Jail made a man leave because he had on a pair of shorts --- I know the rules but why did the guards at the front let him enter the visiting area in the first place? If they had told him at first he might have chosen to go and buy some pants to wear. The whole visit was ruined because of this.

Speaking Of Dress Codes I Went To Visit My Sweety At The middleton Unit On 9-16-06 and They Werent Letting Anyone who Had Open Shoes In Like Flip Flops We Had To Find Some Socks And Put Them On... I Had To Ask Another Lady Who Was Visiting Her Loved One If She Had Any Socks I Could Borrow... She Said She Had Some Knee High Stockings I Could Have... Thank God For Her Cause I Wasnt Gonna Get In there Without Socks On.... Also The Weekend Before That When I Went To See My Baby I Was Listed As His Wife This Weekend I Was Listed As A Friend Whats Up With That?
