Lysbeth 06-25-2006, 07:18 PM Hi Sally, and welcome to PTO and especially the Alabama forum family! :)
I have already seen some of your other posts and saw that many of our members have already reassured you that he would be all right at Kilby. The COs there tend to be harder on the brand new inmates so just keep that in mind for future reference, but all in all it's the same thing everyone goes thru in Alabama and he will get through it just like thousands of others before him. As time goes on and he gets where he's going permanently, he'll adjust to everything.
I am very familiar with NE Alabama as my guy was at Limestone, between Athens and Huntsville, for several years.
Welcome again, and we're glad you found us!

hi sally,i can tell you that i do know how you feel.we are neighbors,of sorts.i'm in marshall co. my son was taken from marshall co.jail to kilby in january.he called his aunt when he got there, and when she came to tell me,she was crieing so bably she could hardly talk.he was at kilby until about the end of febuary.kilby is a processing center.he was then taken to bibb, even tho he was told that he would go to limestone.i think they take them whereever them are not the most crowded at the time.anyway,he was fine at kilby.he said it was a LOT better than marshal co. where they try to starve them.you are lucky to have your husband and other son for support,im alone and fighting my exhusband for the right to visit with my sons children.i know that you feel scared for him now.our mothers instinct tells us to protect them, and now we feel helpless to do so. if you want to email me its (no personal email's in post) i can only offer encouragement and tell you it will get a littel easier with time and Gods help.

hi hon, its me again. tell boyfriend that he is going to have to do more writing and less calling. these phone calls are just another way for the system to squeeze a little more money out of the inmates family.
brandons mom 07-22-2006, 12:32 AM my son was at kilby for a week then moved to red eagle, he said it wasnt to bad, and yes the phone bill is crazy, but i have to pay it because, i want to talk to him

oh, absolutly! i had only the cell phone when my son first went to bibb, and it had to go off, and the house phone go on so that he could call. but he has been gone since october of 2005, and we now have a system where he calls on the weekend when the rates are cheaper. he will still call at any time if he is upset about something, or if he just needs to hear my voice. but it can get awfuly expensive with sending them money, the calls, and then the visits, with gas being so high. ofcourse we find a way because we love them so much. i'm just saying that the "system" knows this, and they play on it.
