I'll be flying to Oakdale, LA from NY to visit my husband.
He's being held at FDC Oakdale.
I read on BOP that there's a ion drug scanner at the facility. Can anyone tell me what kind of machine they have at Oakdale?
The false-positive stories I've read on here is freaking me out. I don't want to take my toddler all the way there and be turned away.:cry:


And do they process FCI visitors at the same place as they process FDC visitors?
Does FDC and FCI visitors use the same visiting rooms?
Can I only bring coins or can I bring $1 bills?

Any info on FDC will be appreciated! Thanks!

I was just recently at Oakdale. FCI and FDC have separate visiting rooms. FCI is the first building on the left and FDC os further down. I was at FCI i don't know about FDC. I took only quarters, however, some people did take one dollar bills also. While I was there they only ran it across the front and back of my hands only. Make sure you wash your hands before going and don't handle any cash you never know where it was before you recieved it. You may want to have some hand sanitizer in your car to use also.
