I am new to prison talk. I currently have a brother that is in BayMinette, AL jail. He had court and was sentenced to a prison SAP program. I am so scared and confussed. I do not know how long he will be at BayMinette until they ship him to the other facility. I do not know how long he will have to stay in the program at Ventress. I am assuming this is where they are sending him. He is so upset about not coming home he hasn't called us. He is pretty strong has done a few months in Escambia County FL jail, and 6 months at the Childressburg bootcamp, and time here and there in Bay Minette. Does any one know anything about the Ventress program or how long it will be before he gets sent there or how long he has to stay there? He is a wonderful kid who has gotten into drugs and just can't seem to find his way away from them. He is so loved and missed by us all it justs hurts so bad that he is having to go through this. :( But I'm sure you all understand.

First welcome to the PTO!!!I'm a mother who has went threw the same thing your family is going threw now, just take one day at a time. Have alot of faith. OK, Baldwin County, he could be there awhile, but there really no given deadline the ADOC follows, my son sat 5 mths before sent to Ventress. Bladwin County is a cake walk compared to Escambia -FL (my son was there also) Ok, now Ventress there are different types of SAPP programs, some could be 4 mths, or like my sentence he was told to go to 18 mth program. But Ventress isn't the only place he could go for SAPP, he could go to St. Clair, they also offer these programs. But first after he lives Baldwin County, he will be sent to Kilby for processing and will at least be there for 30 days or more. Hope this helps.
God Bless
Linda

jeremy's sis....welcome to PTO...The first place they will send him will be kilby for processing. Ventress is one of the places they could send him. As Linda said above St. Clair offers SAPP and Bullock offers it too..I think bullocks sapp class is the 4 month one, i think that is the only one they offer...

I'm sorry I don't have info for you either, but keep the faith. I was in the prison system, and wanted you to know that he may not be able to call home. Sometimes during transition, you do not have phone priviliges because of the shortness of the time there. The mail can also be the same. He will also go through an adjustment period. It is hard at first to be reminded of home, but he will come around. Don't be discouraged, he needs you all.

Welcome! I can explain a little to you..My son was sentence to do the SAP for 18 months either at VENTRESS OR ST.CLAIR. The judge in our county order this in Sept 2005 but he stayed at county jail till around 1st
of Dec then he went to Kilby and on to ST.Clair on Jan 3. Few days later
he was told there was not enough time left to do the SAP so he was put in RP (RELASPE PROGRAM) which he finished that in toward the end of July. His EOS is March 12,2007. He was put up for parole and we went to it April 4 and he was denied for he was not well enough to be parole. That was even stupid for them to even put him up. He is now working in the office with the ones that do the program. I have heard him say from being around others that are in the SAP program that it is rough,so doesn't make it all the way thru. So according to Daniel's EOS I bet he will do the Relaspe Program. I don't look for my son to go up parole and according to what I read this wk a lady went up for parole and was denied for she EOS in Jan. If you need to know more about the Relaspe Program I will try to tell you about that. GOD BLESS YALL...mother1952

Thanks Mother, the Judge in Daniels case never ordered SAP so we are hoping that he won't have to do that before he can get paroled. He also went through the Salvation Army's program before being sentenced. Daniel EOS good time is June 15th 2007. He doesn't have a drug problem, his was alcohol and he hasn't had a drink since Jan! I'm proud of him, he went to prison Juliy13th 2006, so we are waiting for a parole hearing, any clue how long till you get your 1st one?

No I have no clue about the parole date. I am proud that he has done a program with the Salvation Army and he has not had a drink since Jan. Ok. let me explain something to you. All the time my son was using drugs ever since he was 14 could have been younger and now he is 25 I kept telling him he was addicted and he said NO but in this relaspe program he learned that he was a addict and it would be with him for the rest of his life. He knows also that he has to take it one day at a time with his addiction. There are so many different types of addiction shopping, gambling and eating are examples. See my son has already been to so many different programs when he was younger along with boot camp but it was prison and this program that woke him up. Now the big test will be when he comes home and he said no way am I going to mess up and end up back in a correctional facility. He has admitted that prison saved his life so for 18 months of being locked up is worth so much if it saved his life. I hope I have helped some and feel free to let us all know if we can help in any way. GOD BLESS YALL....mother1952

Thanks Mother for the support and if there is anything I can ever do for you please ask. Daniel was in the county jail when he first told me he would never take another drink again, but the thing that really helped Daniel was that while doing the Salvation Army he found God and that has really changed him, he is a totally differnt man, we had dated before when he was drinking and then again after he had stopped and it is so wonderful now, he is just the greatest! Throughout this whole ordeal his faith hasn't waivered, it has grown stronger and so has my love for him. God Bless you too Mother!

Very glad to hear that...my son finally accepted God and his words even though I had brought him up to believe but with the drug problem he had he didn't need anyone. We have a family prayer upon leaving when we visit him and he prays like he has been doing it all his life. I just hope all will go well with you and Daniel. I am looking forward to the day we go after our son and bring him home. If you need me in anyway just call up on me. God Bless Yall....mother1952

:grouphug:My son was released on parole (via completion of SAP) from Ventress on June 11th. He was granted parole back in May. If your family member is headed for Ventress...he is one step closer to comming home. Encourage him to sign-up for EVERY program. Whether court ordered or not. This will help at the Parole Hearing. God Bless you and Good luck.;)

My husband has taken every class ADOC offers and that has not helped my husband. It is ashame when they take every class they offer and have no write ups and and it seems like they don't care, but you get some they all they get is writeups and take hardly nothing they are in and out and that is not fair

Good Luck with getting him transferred. I know a lot of people have got transfers, but it takes time. How long is his sentence and how long has he served? Have you called the parole board? Keep us posted on your visit tomorrow. BEST OF LUCK!!!!

his sentence is ten years and i figure he has served around two and a half with what he served at the county, kilby, and Bibb combined.he is in for violation of probation on a t.o.p. charge.our trip to the legislative office was good.we were told that they will contact the prison commision and ask that he be given special consideration and be moved up on the list for transferres.but it still is not an over night thing and we have to wait untill limestone has a bed available.time is not on my side, and i had to give them a letter from my doctor in birmingham stating that i have cancer that is not curable and that i will not survive it.this was NOT something that i wanted my son to hear.if he gets to limestone i will at least get to see him more often.

i love donovan
