Hello Everyone,

I have not been to PVSP yet but expect to go fairly soon as soon as I get approved. I am curious as to what type of visiting areas are there - large communal rooms, outside patios, grass/concrete, shade, etc.? Just don't know what to expect.

Thanks!

Yes to all on C & D yards. Grass/concrete area has concrete tables to sit at but during the summer it can be hot. No Shade. Inside they have vending machines (quarters only). I have found if I am nice to the staff they are nice to me. Good Luck. -C

I don't know how the minimum yard is, but all the rest have a indoor visiting area and a outside patio with grass.

I learned my lesson this past Sunday, sitting on the outside benches in the afternoon!! LOL Burned my butt!! :D :D

Yah, it's getting warm... A yard is the same. Grass and tables outside.

Nice thing is the men can walk around all they want, inside or out, unlike Lancaster where they had to stay at the table.

Also I've never seen them terminate visits... they just scrounge up more little table and kiddie chairs if need be -- uncomfortable, but at least we all get our visits.

And with summer coming, get ready for the crickets!!! LOL... the place gets INVADED by them for like a month... it's real trip. They're in the motel rooms, the prison restrooms, even in their cells. I saw one in the bathroom last week and thought, "Uh-oh, here they come!" :D

I LOVE crickets. I miss them. I live in Northern Cal now & miss the chirp chirp.......a lot!

This is good news ladies. Thank you. So it is possible then to be able to walk around together instead of just sitting (that sounds awful)? And as for the grass (yay!), can you walk on it or sit on it (that's probably asking too much, I know). My friend is on C yard.

The heat worries me........I don't do well in it. LOL.

Aw you won't miss the crickets after a night in a Coalinga motel during the season!! :D

Yes, you can walk, sit in the grass.... there are basketballs to toss with the kids (usually half-flat, but oh well :) ...)

It does get HOT in the summer, but spring, fall and winter are cool -- just a few weeks ago, I had to wear a jacket, so you never know.

.

That's pretty funny! Wow that is GREAT that you walk around and actually SIT in the grass!!! I'm amazed.......and delighted. That just seems so human. Thank goodness for small miracles.

Hi hartman! Welcome to our little forum LOL. I live in the other direction but I hope you get a ride. I forgot, that's a long weekend huh?

Katie, you're right... PV visiting is sooo humane and nice after the prisons we've been at. I can't get my guy to sit in the grass though... he doesn't want his visiting clothes to get stained!!

............ah, what's the price of a little grass stain compared to the joy of sitting in cool grass!

I'm so surprised to hear that a) there is grass, and b) you can sit in it. WHOA!

Reading through the PVSP thread I am pleased to hear that it sounds relatively gentle as prisons go.
