Hi there. My friend just got sentenced to 2 years at VSPW. I don't know much about this at all. I want to know that she is alright or at least doing as well as she can. She's only been there for about a week and half. How long will she be in reception? I wrote her a letter and sent some stamps and envelopes last week. I don't know if she even wants to correspond with anyone but how long should it take for her to get the mail and respond. Also can she make calls from reception and should I put money on her books? please someone let me know.

Well my wife has been at VSPW reception for 24 days now. I have received 4 letters from her, the last one was written on the 11th and mailed on the 12th (got it yesterday)which is 2 and a half weeks since I sent my first letter. She still has not received anything from me even though she states her roomies mail average 10 days. I send her a letter every other day if not every day because she says that the little things in life are ever so important now...letters from home, pencils, paper and envelopes.

But that does not answer your question.
In her first letter, she said she was told she is going to be in reception for at least 40 days...no phone calls. My wife also told me that any money put on her books in reception has nothing taken out, however once she goes over the wall then 44% is removed for restitution.

I hope this helps.

This is all correct. My sister has been at VSPW for about 60 days and is still in reception. It can take up to 90 days. For both of you, mail is REALLY slow getting into them. Usually about 2 weeks. I write my sister every day as well. A hint.......postcards get through in about half of the time....so you could send one to at least let them know that you love them, know where they are, etc.

Any other questions? I scoured the web, made phone calls, etc. etc. to get answers so I might be able to answers others of yours if you send me a private message.

God Bless!

I did 19m at VSPW & had my daughter there. Your time on RC is differant for everyone.I stayed on RC for almost 5 months. For new commitments it takes longer than it does for a violater. You need to go threw a processing thing first(dental, medical, pysch, tab testing &
physical) after that you wait to see your counselor in order to be classified. They counselors are what takes long. They are usually at least a month behind.:o
