Okay, I'm understanding that you can't send stamps or paper but how do you send calling cards? And my son tells me that I have a block on his calls. After the war with SBC I find out that it's not my line but the phone company at Yankton FPC. Can someone tell me who provides the the pay phones or how the inmate can resolve this problem. It's my understanding that our number is placed on his calling list. Any advice or direction will be greatly appreciated.

All I know is that to avoid the block, you can set up a pre-paid account with correctional billing services. There number is 1-800-844-6591.

He has to have your number approved before he can call you, it's probably not approved and that's why there is a block. Did he just go in? As for calling cards, you can't send them to a federal facility. The inmate can purchase prepaid minutes and then call you at his expense. It's cheaper that way, they can pay for all 300 minutes with around $70 but if he doesn't have money on his books he can call you collect. If your number is approved and there is still a block call the prison and ask about their phone service and contact the phone company and the block should be removed. Remember when they call to press "5", if you press "77" that is blocking all future calls from that facility. Good luck to you, I hope you can talk to him soon.

You ave been given geat advice; however, many phone companies automatically place a block on your local phone blocking "out of area" and "Unknown Numbers". check with you phone provider to see if this might be the case.

SBC is infamous for this problem. They will not do the billing for some of the phone services in the prisons or jails. SO, the company blocks the phone on his end. You will either need to purchase time directly from the company which I assume is what the inmates can do, OR go thru the services listed previously.
