View Full Version : Welcome New Members - check in here!
ladyarkles 06-05-2006, 06:51 PM This is a thread for all new members to introduce themselves.
Some of you "old-timers" can re-introduce yourselves if you wish! :D
Welcome to PTO and welcome to the Capital Punishment Forum.
We are here to support each other through this difficult journey.
We are glad that you found us!

RiverstotheSea 06-05-2006, 09:15 PM I shall take the pleasure of going first - even though I'm an old-timer! :D
I've been here for a small while now and have been involved in the 'Capital Punishment'
area of the prison system for a little over six months now.
Upon joining PTO I have encountered some of the most wonderful people
- who have not only helped support me but are an inspiration to us all.
I look forward to what the future holds. And although I know not all of it will be pleasant;
as LadyArkles said: We are here to support each other through this difficult journey.

nortynou 06-05-2006, 11:53 PM Hi Rach,
Well I am nortynou and I have been involved with the Death Penalty for over a year now. I have a few penpals on Death Row and one also in General Population. I lost a very dear friend in March to an execution however have found the support and PM's that I received to be overwhelming. This is a great place to be able to find out information and support when you need it.
I have also had a loved one in the oz prison system and have had to go through the trials and tribulation of that.

ocean 06-10-2006, 06:03 AM Hi, i am relatively new here...i have been checking out a few of the forums, and have only put in a few posts, and i thought i would introduce myself "properly"...well i haven't had a lot to do with the prison system and happend to stumble across a site about a year ago, wanting penpals for DR inmates...well i started writing to one and have found one of the most beautiful people, and who i can say is now also one of my best friends. i also came across this site by accident, and i must say it is very addictive! the amount of wonderful support and information, is fantastic! and it is so nice to know there are so many other people out there sharing the same experiences!
I look forward to alot more time spent in your company!!
Thankyou.

Mrs. OB 06-18-2006, 02:51 PM Jennie and Squirly - warm welcome to PTO.
I am glad you found us.
WEEBLE 07-15-2006, 02:54 PM I guess I'm a bit of an oddity here but if you bear with this post I hope I will explain myself properly...
I do actually believe in the DP but and it's quite a big BUT....
1) The theory is sound but the practice is different
2)Even theoretically only in the case of the worst serial killers (don't see why tax payers should fork out to keep someone inside like Gary Ridgeway..and yes I know the practicalities show it is more expensive than LWOP but as I said theoretically...)
I had 3 pen friends on DR (well 4 but one was serious deranged!) and they knew my opinion and respected it and understood it... I had to lose my friend when I moved abroad to a country where post is at best arbitary (and with the DR postal system we stood no chance!). I do have some internet access (when the electric is up and they know I am still following them all with interest and hoping and praying for them always...
So that's me..... (There is a bit a more to me than that but hey don't want to let you into all my secrets!!!!)
Weeble
:-)
YapYap 07-17-2006, 06:31 AM Welcome Weeble :) And now that I'm here I'll properly introduce myself as well. Just noticed I hadn't done that yet. Bad YapYap! :D
I'm writing to the sole woman on death row in Florida. They're treating her VERY badly (shame on you Lowell!) and for me there's not a shadow of a doubt that she's innocent, which makes the situation even more grave. I know many people on DR claim they're innocent, but I've reviewed her case and it's obvious many, many mistakes have been made by the investigators and the trial was a sham. She's currently going through appeals and is very optimistic she'll be granted a new trial and get acquitted. I don't dare to be that optimistic, we're talking about Jeb Bush's Florida here... Needless to say I'm 10000% anti-DP.
Right now she's going through a horrible period. She lost contact with her son and is very worried something happened to him. So me and another pen pal are working very hard to locate and contact him for her. We've found a sign of life as recent as last month so her fears that he has died seem unfounded. I hope we'll find him soon and that he'll send a little note to his mom to let her know he's okay.
nortynou 07-17-2006, 07:02 AM Hey Yap Yap, great to meet you. I hope that you are able to find your pals son for her and that she is granted a new trial and is acquitted.
Take care,
Ness

Just Me 1973 08-22-2006, 12:32 PM Wow - a new forum! Cool!
Well - I am writing four people on death row. Two guys on the row in Texas, one in Ohio and a young lady on Texas death row. I have visited the Polunsky unit twice, and am going back in December. I will also visit the young woman I write as well. I am looking forward to that and lots of other things not relevant in this forum :) Here in Europe I'm a mother first and foremost, and a student to become a nurse some day.
I have been writing my first pen friend for little over four years, and we consider each other family now :) It doesn't come down to DNA who's your family in our book. I don't do much activism work anymore, but I probably will later on in life. Right now I have enough with my kids, studies and just try to be a good friend to my friends. :)
Nice to "meet" everyone :)

Mrs. OB 08-25-2006, 08:54 AM My warmest welcome for the new PTO/Capital Punishment Forum members.
Atalie 08-31-2006, 12:39 PM Hello everyone. I have been with PTO for awhile and usually spend my time in the violent offenders forum and the Siblings forum. Though I do post quite a bit in the Death Row Threads I never had pen pals on death row until now. So I am very happy to be able to be more active in the DR forum. It is good to see all the familiar names here.
Blessings Catherine

Babygirl872 10-09-2006, 12:11 AM Hi. I needed some relief from what seems to be a never ending journey with my husband who is at El Dorado Correctional Facility in Kansas. I am just tired of talking to people who can only listen but not relate to my pain (or happiness.) We have been married for 7 months. I have known him since 1990. HE has been locked up since 1991 (1 month after our daughter was conceived). Thanks for having a sight like this and I look forward to conversations.

lil sis rose 02-05-2007, 03:45 PM Hi! I've been posting in other areas and just now found this thread. I'm glad I found this website. I've dealt with the DP for some time now. My older brother was executed in March of 2004. I write and help other inmates in the Polunsky Unit but refuse to witness another execution. I don't speak about the execution to anyone. Only in a poem that I posted in the sibling forum have I expressed any thoughts about it. Someday I'll tell the story, maybe here in a thread for likeminded people to read without harsh judgement. I am a silent victim of the DP and I don't stand alone. I won't be silent forever. People here on this site can and will help me find my voice. My name is really Mary. Rose is my middle name and my brother named me lil sis rose because I was his rose in a world full of thorns. It's nice to meet you all and I hope I don't wear out my welcome.
Mary
nortynou 02-05-2007, 04:23 PM Welcome to the CP area Mary!!! :) It is great to have you here. Your brothers nickname for you is so sweet!!! And I am sure you won't wear out your welcome.
moonstar_uk 02-06-2007, 01:27 AM Hi All,
I too have been on here for a couple of months but tend to spend my time in specific prison pages.
Anyways, I write 2 guys in Polunsky and 1 in San Quentin (he's my main pp, and very good friend now), have been writing since last summer.
I'm a teacher and single mum to two great kids(well, greatish, they're getting older now and full of their own attitude ;) ) .
So, that's me all done and introduced!
nortynou 02-07-2007, 03:37 AM Welcome to PTO Moonstar!!! Great to meet you!!!
Mrs. OB 02-19-2007, 08:46 AM Welcome to PTO Mary & Moonstar.
PattiD1157 02-19-2007, 05:58 PM I pop in here once in awhile. I am very ANTI DP. I have a penpal that is on the row in FL. We have been writing since November. I was engaged to a man that had a 28 year sentence but that is over unfortunately. You will see me all over the boards since I am a site mod. I am always here to help where and when ever I can. I have met some awesome people here on PTO and wouldn't give this site up for anything.
I am a single mom have been divorced since 97. I have 4 children and 3 grandchildren. I love them ALL with my whole heart and soul. I am a college student, just made it to being a junior. I was out of school for 28 years and decided it was time to fulfill my dream of a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. I do hope to make my mark on the justice (or as I call it the "in" justice system) and help inmates. As of right now I am teetering on whether to go into probation and parole or jump right in the middle and work in a prison. There are 2 prisons close to where I live both being within an hour away. I have all these dreams as to what the system should be like and being a stubborn person come hell or high water I will make a difference. It is my belief that if I can help just one person I have met my goal. From that goal I will go on. I know I can't save the world but I will be heard when it comes to my opinion of the DP. I have gotten into some pretty deep debates in my classes because of my opinion, but I have never backed down and the day I back down is the day they lay me in the ground. Ok that's enough babbling from me for now.
Welcome ALL new members and non members. I truly hope that all those non members that read the forums here in PTO will join. There is more love and compassion here than I have seen anywhere. We are all going through this together. All in similar but different situations.
Patti
Mrs. OB 02-21-2007, 12:16 AM Always nice to see you Patti :)
nortynou 02-21-2007, 01:58 AM Patti, I believe you have already achieved your goal, you already have helped many people!! :) It's great to have you around the CP forums, I always look forward to reading your posts.
PattiD1157 02-21-2007, 09:53 AM Thank you Noora and Nessy I appreciate the welcome. My goal is to help others with this unGodly injustice system. If I help just one person then I have met my goal.
Tulip 08-21-2007, 02:30 PM Just realised I never introduced myself here;
I have a few pen pals, been writing most of them for years. Two of them on DR. Officially I live in Amsterdam but half the year I live out of a suitcase in other peoples homes where I help them get used to life with a new baby. Making communications with my pals a bit complicated at times as mail needs forwarding etc and that takes time. Than again, they get lots of postcards from all over! And when I am home I have a lot of time to write long letters and lots of stories to share.
Have one grown up daughter, addicted to good coffee, love chocolate, always have fresh flowers in my home and a sock on the (knitting) needles in my bag (as well a small writing pad).
Mrs. OB 08-22-2007, 11:20 PM Hey Tulip,
Nice to see you again. I hope you are doing fine,
N.
Tulip 08-23-2007, 05:49 AM Thank you Noora, doing good here, hope you are well too!!
Claire33Uk 08-30-2007, 04:38 AM Hey all, I'm new here i posted my first post in the Holman Bit, but thought i would come along as introduce my self here on the DR bit.
So far i'm waiting for a letter back from someone on DR in Holman Unit.
So i don't really have anyone yet.... But this forum has really helped me esp on the mail restrictions etc and what can be sent, also about transfering money to help with postage! ( As the lady in the postoffice here just looked at me when i asked her about international money orders! Typical huh!!)
I can see Prison Talk as being my very good friend over the weeks and years to come!
Fingers crossed he writes back to me again ;o)

I am living in Europe and I have a loved one on Texas Death Row and two Pen-Pals on DR in Alabama and Florida. Since they stepped into my life everything changed. But - it changed in a good way. I know more about the value of life now. I have learned alot. And I am very, very thankful to meet such precious people inside the walls and outside, especially at PTO.

Danalia 06-07-2008, 07:25 AM But this forum has really helped me esp on the mail restrictions etc and what can be sent, also about transfering money to help with postage! ( As the lady in the postoffice here just looked at me when i asked her about international money orders! Typical huh!!)

irshnrse 06-25-2008, 08:46 PM Hello, I don't think I have done this here yet. My husband and his brothers are incarcerated and my youngest brother-in-law received two death sentences this year. I had been on PTO for awhile when this happened, but came to this forum after his trial. He is 22 years old.
MDF1965 06-28-2008, 11:07 AM My name is Mary and I live in Michigan. I unexpectedly found PTO at a time when I was crushed by our son's sentence to prison. But since I have come to PTO, I've found a whole 'nother world that seems to need a bit of cheer and a drop of encouragement. I can give that. God has a plan for all of us and maybe this was part of His plan for me. In any case, here I am. My husband is very supportive and keeps me in stamps and ink. I think my son in prison imagines I've toppled over into a barrel of rum to be writing DR inmates. But I believe this is the right thing to do. It's opened up a side of life I had ignored for way too long. I'm trying to make up for that now. I enjoy all of your comments and wish you a wonderful weekend. God bless you!
Mary
irshnrse 09-06-2008, 02:53 PM I think my intro was in the lost data.
I have been on PTO for a couple of years because my husband is incarcerated. In March, his brother was given 2 death sentences here in Oklahoma, so I started visiting the CP forum as well. My BIL just turned 23. He was convicted with no forensic evidence, just the word of a co-def that made a pretty amazing deal before trial (4 yrs in the making) and the co-def still hasn't even been sentenced for "accessory after the fact".
irshnrse 09-06-2008, 03:05 PM Oops! I guess I posted in June! Lol. Sorry!!
