I am finding more and more people that have their default "PM" Private Messaging" notification turned off. (This may be a default I have not found yet) What this means is that if someone sends you a private message on PTO the only way you will know about it is if you notice the little PM indicator with a number next to it, or happen to check your private messages.
If the Pop-Up notification is turned ON, a pop-up box will appear on your screen when you are on the PTO website. This won't happen when you are typing or viewing messages, only when you finish what you are doing and start browsing again.
If you would like to check and see if your pop-up notification is on or off, you can do the following to get to that menu.
Click on "User Control Panel" directly under the "Prison Talk Online" main banner at the top of the page.
Once you have clicked on the User Control panel, click on "Edit Options".
After you have clicked on Edit Options, look down the screen and you will find the highlighted title, "Messages & Notifications".
At the bottom of the Messages & Notifications category you will see: "Pop up a box when you receive a Private Message?"
If you do want to be notified of a new private message from another member at Prison Talk Online, the YES box should have a dot next to it. If you DO NOT want to receive private messages from others on PTO, the NO should have the dot highlighted. Use your mouse to click either one.
If you look around the "Edit Options" menu you will see a variety of other options that you can control to taylor your accounts features to you liking.
Hope this helps!
