I pretty much can geuss little, no skin, whats the limit? I love wearing dresses for him, so I need some help with the dress code. Anything would be helpful!

I am going to visit my husband for the first time in about 2 weeks. He is at JCCC in Helena, Ok. Me, my mother-in-law, and my 2 girls ages 5 & 9 are going. I have read up on the dress code, so I think we are okay there. However, I am still kind of nervous this being our first prison visit. What kind of ID do I need to take on the children? Will my driver's license do for ID on me? Do the children have to abide by the dress code? I would appreciate any info. anyone could give me. Thank you all so much for your help.

Hey Coco,
I went to visit once so far at JCCC. I was nervous when trying to stay within the guidelines, but the rules are pretty straight forward. I just made sure that I was mostly covered up and that I didn't wear any kind of tight material like spandex or tight clothes of any kind. No whit'gray/black t-shirts or gray, blue chambray, or periwinkle shirts of any style. Nothing low-cut or off the shoulders and nothing shorter than the top of the kneecap. No thongs or flip-flopsI didn't bring my children, but the child that I saw going in had no problems. I didn't see any kind of ID for child, but they were toddlers. The dress code applies to all over the age of eleven. I just brought in my driver's license and a clear bag (ziploc) with $20 dollars in quarters. I didn't wear to much jewelry because it can set off the metal detector and you will have to take it all off to go through it. I left everything in my car and took the bare minimum. I went early on a Sunday and it was pretty easy and not so crowded. It got more busy by 11:30, but we only have two hour visits so it may have gooten more crowded that afternoon. The guards were pretty cool that day, but the photo people did not show up that weekend.

Just a heads up that you might want to bring the childrens birth certificates with you for the first time. That way if they need them you will have them on hand.
I have seen several visits that were delayed because of issues with the children.
Also yes the children should somewhat go by the same rules as the adults. I have also witnessed visitors being told that their children were not dressed appropriately. (shorts/skirt on the little girl were to short or provacative or the little belly shirts were not appropriate.this is what the officer said)just to be on the safe side i would suggest capri's and a simple t-shirt. We all know that it all depends on who is working visitation that day and what mood they are in as to what is allowed.
It is mostly common sense stuff.I hope this helps you out and good luck on your visit.

It is a pretty smooth thing as long as the clothes aren't too revealing. My friend and I went in she is 7 months pregnant, well as you know it is hard to keep some things in. Well the female officer kind of bitched her out. But let her in. Told her next time try not to be so revealing. Other than that no probs here.

Thanks everyone for your help. I have a couple more questions I noticed you can't wear flip flops what about slip on shoes with no back? Your toes are covered but the back of your foot is not. How long does it take to get iin? Like how long does the search and ID process take before you are allowed to visit? Anyone know?

Shoes-You will need to check with the facility.
Take to get in - depends on how many people are there to visit and who's working intake.
search is rather quick
When you get there, don't be afraid to tell them that this is your first visit and you aren't sure of how things go, they will usually explain it to ya.
On the kids, you will need to take them copies of their birth certificates for their file. The kids have to be proven to be your biological children. As for clothes on the kids, if they are girls dress them cute but stay on the safe side, no tanks no skirts no shorty shorts. the reason for this is because some facilities have sex offenders and they are trying to prevent any trouble (make sense?) boys just no tank tops. BE SURE TO CHECK THEIR POCKETS BEFORE YOU LEAVE YOUR CAR.
Take your drivers' license, key to your car (single) you can take money in quarters but you'll need to check with the facility on the amount, it has to be in a clear bag (ziploc) Leave everything else in your car, your sunglassess, gum, candy, everything that way you won't have to waste time making trips back the car for things they snicker at.
I hope you have a wonderful visit.

you may want to take a pair of tennis shoes with you. sometimes slipon shoes & open toe shoes are not allowed It depends on who is working the door

You definitely want another pair of shoes at the ready. I have made it thru with open toe shoes, but when I tried to wear in a pair of sandals with the piece between the toes, no dice!!!! Go figure. I had to change into the tennis shoes which totally wrecked the outfit.:p Thank goodness I had a pair of tennis shoes in the car.

Heck to be on the safe side i always take two of everything. especially shirts. some places dont allow you to wear a white collared shirt with stripes and they will tell you no white period. then there is shoes, some days you will see people with flip flops and once u do it they send u hiking. I try to go early so just in case they say something is wrong with my attire i can change it. but at the same time i always show the copy of the dress code policy and say well thats not on here so i should be able to wear it. Then i have to be a smart mouth and tell them i know how to read and follow directions and that i can wear whatever it is i have on. and if they changed the policy they should have updated the website and or sent out the new policy. it gets them everytime. but always take extra cause i dont think they really care if you get to visit or not. One lady in lexington referred to us as "GROUPIES"..

I have tryed everything but some reason I can not find these simple answers. Thank for any help you can give.

Basically, for days and times of visitation, you have to contact each facility by phone. On the DOC website it has the rules of visitation.
