I'm now 23 and have been out and on my own for almost three years. I started my "stay" in the system when I was 25 and went from Girls School to being tried as an adult when I was 17 for lesser crimes than I see older people get slapped on the hand for. I was in prison the 2nd time before I was 18 years old. I have alot to offer on the subject of juvenile incarceration and just what effects the different punishments offered by the court system have on adolescents. I'd like to say that I'm not a statistic--I've broken the mold that says I'm destined to spend the rest of my days behind bars. I would love to share my experiences and offer my input to anyone who it might help. That includes the juveniles and the families that are sharing in the suffering. My Mom is my best friend and I only wish she would have had a place like this to turn to for support. Also to anyone who's on the "legal advocacy" side of the issue--I'm now a mature adult with ALOT to offer and alot of experiences that can be used for examples. Please feel free to message me at any time. I feel like I need to be on the helping side of the matter now. I got out, my life went on, but there's still a part of me that needs to be fulfilled by helping people with this matter! Bye!
