Do not leave with out the permission of your PO. If you request permission it may be granted. However, if you leave, INS may notice you are on probation when you return. I was under the impression that NO American can visit Cuba, I suppose this holds different for those with family there. Please speak to your PO. Explain that you would like to visit your family for the weekend. IMO I would not go with out permission.

I agree. Leaving without permission would be the least sensible thing to do, because if you get violated and go to prison, then your chances are ruined for being able to get married. Surely there must be some way you can arrange for your girlfriend to come here. Even if you can't, I wouldn't throw away your chance to successfully complete probation. Successful completion of that probation is a step to a solid future with her, but violating your probation is a great big step backwards.

Hey thanks for the replies i guess you would be right but it's hard to stay put for 5 yrs and not see your loved ones,it's much easier if they were here in the us.thelast time i spoke to my lawyer he said maybe i could get permission from the judge to go but sometimes we do things crazy for love.and would they rerally send to prison for that?ive only been to county jail i know it's not prison but stillwould the system send me there anyway for that?lot to think about i guess.

Being on probation, they might not give you prison time? But they could easily put you in county jail for a year or less.

That could mean doing the full 5 years of probation. If you keep close with your PO with what you are doing and want to do and stay prefectly clean, that 5 years most likely will be cut shorter.

I was cut loose after 3 years of a 5 year term of probation and my crime was WAY up the scale from yours. You NEED to know and UNDERSTAND what your PO wants from you!

From my POV the steaks are HIGH for a few days of bless!!

On the other hand I have seen them revoke people's probation and sentence them to complete the remaining time in prison///please consider speaking to your PO.
