I need to know, do they allow you to have sex with your S.O. (Significant Other) in prison? I saw it on the HBO series "Oz." Does this happen is real life? I'm not trying to be funny, I just need to know incase my man heads off to prison (he is in jail for the time being)..................

The visitors ?? NO. If your man is in a state that has "conjugal visits" you have to be married or a blood relative to participate in a program that allows you to spend some time with your loved one. (After an application and approval process)

But sex on the visiting floor ?

it is called conjugal visit.
Your inmate has to request it.
So the inmate has to investigate the possibility once he is incarcerated.
This type of visit is highly regulated and the inmate has to meet a lot of requirements. The requirements change from State to State.

Not every state offers conjugals. Look into whether SC offers it and what the guidelines for it are.

This isn't exactly right. There are about 5 states that allow congugal visits, and then only if you are a certain level and length of sentence. Then you have to be married or a blood relative to be eligible to go. So for the vast majority of us, we sure be wishing! So, if it's your boyfriend, then no. I am married and will never see my husband naked again until he gets out. It's another common misconception about US prisons that they get to have sex with their girlfriends or wives.

Don't believe everything that is shown on the boob tube.
TV shows are not real.:D
Oz is merely a fictional show with fictional characters played by actors in fake scenes and fake situations.;)

Seriously, though, some states allow them, not sure if you need to be married or not, but Ohio does not have them (darn!) so I have never needed to know anything about them.

You can always refer to the BOP website to get accurate information about prison regulations, but if I remember correctly I think they abolished conjugals atleast for now. If you would like to read about more you can cam go tp www.bop.gov (http://www.bop.gov).

Iowa doesn't have them. but i sure wish they did. i think that if you are married that you should have the option to have conjucal visits. at least on your anniversary. but no one listens to me.

I would go to the SC forum and ask about it there. CA does have conjugal visits but only if you are married and no domestic violence on his record. They took them away from Lifers also.

Rules such as conjugal visits will be different from state to state, as well as depending on the crime committed by the accused. In California, prisoners with violent crimes can no longer have conjugal visits. I suspect the same is true in many states. If the crime is non-violent, and the state has conjugal visits, then yes, you would be able to.

OZ also shows a lot of raping and murdering and while that has been known to happen, it's nothing like it is shown on tv. I'm not married so even if we had conjugal visits here, I wouldn't be eligible.

in california, you have to be married and he has to have a parole date, and depends on the crime.

So true, you even started one on July 7th knowing how people on the site feel about the subject. Doing what you do is one thing, but to start threads on a site where you know people will cast you to damnation by attacking your respectabilities is another thing. Guess you wanted to tell someone, but guess you haven't yet figured out that these folks here don't want to hear it. http://www.prisontalk.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2063014#post2063014

You MUST be married and you must be in a state that allows them. If you try to have discreet sex on the visitation floor, you will get caught, banned from visits and possibly get charges filed against you.

I think it differs state to state but I know Texas doesnt allow them at all, why risk it anyways

Its true that some visitors risk it all and have sex in the visiting room but its not as many as you would think cause many prisons have cameras and are watching every move.. While some feel its bragging rights many of us are upset by these very ppl actions .. For the main reason it causes alot more restrictions and the guards become even more overly cautious and the simple over hug may get a warning or holding hands too long may upset them.. Why should other ppl have to live thru this when other seem not to have the respect and morals not to do anything like that. For the simple fact there are other ppl especially children in visitation rooms always. For many they only have visits and letters .. no phone calls.. or sometimes they may only have letters and get one visit every couple of months..

If you are contemplating this please be aware of the consquences that are there.. You can lose your right to visit, not only for that visit but for the rest of your love one term.. in alot of cases your loved one will get written up and you can also be in trouble as well .. For that is indecent exposure. In the end its up too you what you will do but think of all that is at risk.

why do people risk this type of behavior is what i wont ever understand

JKB's Girl

Well, not that we can where he is now, but, depending on the sentence, I can understand why people would risk it. I'm not saying its right, or that its not disrespectful or anything like that because it isn't right, it is disrespectful. However, if you're man is down for lets say even 10 years, it may seem like forever to wait. Or as in my case, doing life.
Let me tell you, the desire runs high, the despair higher. I'm not about to put on a show for anyone, but what I wouldn't give for a chance to make love to my man. Its been over 28 years for us, and I got to tell ya, I'm tired of waiting. But, waiting is what we'll have to do, I'm not going to do anything so disrespectful to myself, him, or others. Besides that, if the time ever comes, I want it to be special, very special, not a quickie grabbed in a bathroom stall, but in a bed, just me and him, no worries about getting caught, being able to take all the sweet time we want. Sigh, maybe some day.

In Canada most if not all federal prison have private family visits (conjugal visits) and where they have the facilities every inmate is able to apply for a private family visits and will only be turned down if Corrections Canada has deemed the individual to be currently at risk of becoming involved in family voilence; is in receipt of unescorted temporary absences for family contact purposes; or in a special handling unit; or are awaiting decision or have been approved for transfer to a special handling unit, otherwise everyone is eligible and at least in Canada lifers (at least in BC) are the first priority to get private family visits as others may be released to see their family again. While it takes quite a while to recieve approval everyone that receives approval is eligible to a private family visit every two months (or three) but since there is such a high demand it is usually every six months sometimes once a year but certainly better than nothing. Also you arrive at the prison on Friday afternoon and leave on Sunday around dinner time (some let you leave Monday morning). Take care everyone!

:D The nonfiction book GOD OF THE RODEO states that there's a little hill @ Angola where Inmates and visitors go and make love right out in the open! It's considered polite, as all understand it's their only way. But my buddy there, Willie Carl Jones, Jr., says this is poppycock! I don't know what to think.

I remember that episode of Oz. The prison officials were so concerned about the inmate's morale that they arranged it FOR them. Uh, yeah..right...
