how soon do they find out their estimated release date once they get to reception? my boyfriend thought he only had to do 50% of his sentence, but i have a friend that tells me he will have to do 85%. i am really stressed because i thought he would only have about 10 months to do and now it could be alot more.

Well...... I think he gets his release dates when he is in classification. You can call and bug the counselor and he might give you an answer but your man should have gotten some paperwork with all that info on it. If its his 2nd strike then he is more than likely doing 85%! If its his first strike then probably 50% but each circumstance is different! Keep your head up! How long was he sentenced to do at court?

I wish that Virginia had 50% mine would be out now. Here its 85% no matter what. If I'm wrong someone please correct me.

It is his first strike. His sentence was for 24 months (22 after time already served). He had a choice between 1)no strike, 36 months and only having to do 50% or 2) a strike and 24 months and (he thinks) having to do 50% The only reason i'm worried about the percent of time now is that a friend of mine who works in the court told me that if it is a sentence with a strike it is automatically an 85% sentence. He is now worried too that he just assumed the 50% was the same for both deals and maybe it wasnt. It wouldnt make sense though for the 2nd deal to be 85% because that would put him at almost the same amount of time served as the first deal but in the first deal he wouldnt have gotten a strike.

As far as I know the strikes dont matter with the percentage of time... Your best bet is to get in touch with his counselor so you know FOR SURE. Also, when he meets with his counselor he will be given his actual realease date... then you know what to expect.
so he took the strike with 24 months? why would he do that? If he would of taken the no strike with 36 months and 50% he would of done about a year and a half and that would have been better than having a strike on record, so if he is doing 24 months with 85% it doesn't really make a difference with the 36 months he'll do the about the same time if he would have chosen the other deal.

My Husband Got His Time With Half. Since Your Honey Doesn't Remember What The Judge Said Then You'll Have To Wait Until He Sees His Counselor.

yeah the 24 months with 85% and a strike dosent make sense. thats why i think it is only 50%. he took the strike thinking he would be out 6 months sooner with the 36 months vs 24 months if he got 50% with both deals.
