Does Anyone Know If Calipatria In Cali. Can Receive Books Or Magazines?? I Know They Must Come From The Publisher Or One Of These Internet Sites But My Ex-dude Does Not Ask For Anything And I Wanted To Send Him Something..

Magazines are o.k. as long as there is no nudity, books are a different story I have been trying for over a year to get books in to my son with no success. I even spoke to the R & R dept officer who said he had delivered books for my son to his yard, but my son still didn't receive them. If you have any luck please let me know the secret.

They have to come directly from the the vendor such as Barnes and Noble, Borders, etc. I order books and magazines online through Amazon. com and send them to my cousin and there has never been a problem.

P.S. and you have to make sure that they aren't on lockdown, because if they are, the mail room will send them back. Not sure why, but with this last lockdown they were on, I sent my cousin a book and a magazine and it was returned - simply because of the lockdown

If you go to a bookstore, be sure to ask them if they mail books to correctional facilities. The last time I sent my cousin some books, I spent 45 minutes trying to find something he would like, only to get up to the front counter and be told "Oh we stopped doing that two weeks ago":eek:

It was all for nothing anyway, because they got sent back because of the lockdown

Most of my order come from Amazon. com (it's cheaper) or you could try Walmart.com. But as far as service, cost, and it getting there Amazon.com is your best bet:thumbsup:

My friend Billy is in Admin.Seg.Unit #2 he sent me a form to send him 5 books, the form read like this detach address label and attach original label to outside of package, so I guess I can't order online. Can anyone offer some insite to where in Los Angeles I can get these books and have them sent out. This is the first time I am sending him any type of package. It also says that if it is not sent as specified they will return the package so I dont want to make any mistakes. Thank you.

thats intresting i did not think they had to send lable but since he is in ad seg mabey thats why just call barnes and nobal they are everywere or go to website and look for closest location u can call and ask do that first before going some do not send out also give them the lable then they should take care of it if u want to be for sure for sure then call mail room ur self and ask

Thanks, I will call Barnes and Nobal and ask before I do anything. The Ad Seg form tells me everything I need to do so it wont get returned.

if i am not mistaken girl, i think they can only have 5 books at a time, if he wants more he needs to donate to the prison, or other inmates or send back the ones he has
