View Full Version : Can Calipatria inmates get books/mags? Meia 05-06-2006, 01:56 PM Does Anyone Know If Calipatria In Cali. Can Receive Books Or Magazines?? I Know They Must Come From The Publisher Or One Of These Internet Sites But My Ex-dude Does Not Ask For Anything And I Wanted To Send Him Something.. 20yrnightmare 05-07-2006, 12:15 AM Magazines are o.k. as long as there is no nudity, books are a different story I have been trying for over a year to get books in to my son with no success. I even spoke to the R & R dept officer who said he had delivered books for my son to his yard, but my son still didn't receive them. If you have any luck please let me know the secret. Meia 05-15-2006, 12:34 PM how do you send magazines to calipatria? or any prison for that matter since my brother is at NKSP and asking for magazines too? TIA4TWO 05-17-2006, 09:29 PM They have to come directly from the the vendor such as Barnes and Noble, Borders, etc. I order books and magazines online through Amazon. com and send them to my cousin and there has never been a problem. Hope that helps. LJhow do you send magazines to calipatria? or any prison for that matter since my brother is at NKSP and asking for magazines too? P.S. and you have to make sure that they aren't on lockdown, because if they are, the mail room will send them back. Not sure why, but with this last lockdown they were on, I sent my cousin a book and a magazine and it was returned - simply because of the lockdown TIA4TWO 05-17-2006, 09:34 PM If you go to a bookstore, be sure to ask them if they mail books to correctional facilities. The last time I sent my cousin some books, I spent 45 minutes trying to find something he would like, only to get up to the front counter and be told "Oh we stopped doing that two weeks ago" It was all for nothing anyway, because they got sent back because of the lockdown Most of my order come from Amazon. com (it's cheaper) or you could try Walmart.com. But as far as service, cost, and it getting there Amazon.com is your best bet:thumbsup: LJ Meia 05-18-2006, 11:14 PM Thanks For The Info.. I Will Shop At Amazon..i Usually Shop There For My Books Any Way..so Much Cheaper.. patcutie4 06-22-2006, 06:51 PM My friend Billy is in Admin.Seg.Unit #2 he sent me a form to send him 5 books, the form read like this detach address label and attach original label to outside of package, so I guess I can't order online. Can anyone offer some insite to where in Los Angeles I can get these books and have them sent out. This is the first time I am sending him any type of package. It also says that if it is not sent as specified they will return the package so I dont want to make any mistakes. Thank you. TheForgoten1 06-27-2006, 10:15 PM does anybody know how many books they can get at one time i was at barnes and nobal today and i did not want to send more then 5 but is there a limit? gothica 06-28-2006, 10:09 AM if i am not mistaken girl, i think they can only have 5 books at a time, if he wants more he needs to donate to the prison, or other inmates or send back the ones he has malstone 11-06-2007, 11:48 PM Can I just send a subscription to a mag, or does it have to be sent through Amazon, etc.?
