Nicole,
If it is an Arizona State Prison -- they don't get to receive care-packages. I am not sure how it is for halfway houses or if the prison is a federal facility.

Yes, I have sent care packages several times to AZ DOC facilities. Access secure packages online. I am allowed to send one once a month and the limit is $40 worth of food and beverages. Good luck! accesscatalog.com

Thanks for answering this thread, but also note, that what you responded to, was asked in 2003. :)

Yes, however, it's now 2012 and I'm here looking for answers to the same question. :) May not help the original poster, but may help others who come along if there are answers still posted. Never know.

Inmates housed in facilities run by the Arizona Department of Corrections are only allowed to receive packages through a commercial enterprise called Access Securepak. This program began in January 2012. Click here (https://www.accesscatalog.com/shop/main.html?view=loginregister&mode=register&ProgramID=64&FacilityID=) to be linked to the registration page for that website. The phase of the inmate determines the frequency he/she may receive packages. Phase I are eligible to get one package every three months whereas Phase III are eligible to receive packages monthly.

Yes, AZ Secure Pak is new as of January 2012. As another poster mentioned, it goes by phases on how often you can send a package. It is a great way to be able to buy necessities and food items without the inmate having to use their inmate account for those items. My son now tells me what he would like and what he didn't like for his order each time.

I just sent my baby his first package. It was pretty easy, too. Fortunately, he sent me a list of what he wanted, quantities and all. All I had to do was fill in the form. I'm glad it was pretty easy, as it seems that so many things aren't when dealing with a prison.

It is really nice to be able to send a care package to a loved one, sometimes my husband asks for certain things and sometime I surprise him with things I want him to have, just a note, my husband has been moved several times since the care package program started and different yards allow different things. For example I used to always buy the cappuccino and coffee creamer for my husband but since he has been moved to Florence he cannot have it there.

Wow I had no idea that they could not have cappuccino and coffee creamer in Florence. What unit is your husband in?

Central unit. They may be able to have it at other Florence units though.

thats the unit my brother in law is in. So what happens if I've sent him one of those items? Do they take it out at the prison when there inspecting the items? Central unit. They may be able to have it at other Florence units though.

If it was on the list of things you can buy on the website then it is OK. I ordered a secure pack in February and I could not buy cappuccino or coffee creamer which I always could when he was at other yards. Things change daily so if it was available when you ordered then it should be fine.

When my husband was in Yuma he was on Dakota I never had a problem with him not receiving the secure pack.

Just fyi, the max. amount that can be spent on a securepak, at least to Perryville, has increased from $40 to $80.

Yes but I just found out you can only send after the inmate has put you on the visitors list and your application is approved. So your looking at 60 days, before you can. Got this info straight from secure pack owners. It's doc law
