Depends on prison. You have to send through publisher if you do like through Amazon.com or Barnes&Noble.com you can't send books yourself.

Cassette tapes are same way you have to send through tower.com or through business in your town and they send them out for you it can cost up to $4 for them to send but they should already be aware. I have a lot of knowledge with this so if you need more help with this let me know:) Glad I could help.

But if he is in RECEPTION at San Quentin (usually for the first 3-6 months of their term they are in Reception) Then they cant recieve books.
