Can anyone tell me what things they supply to the inmates? I heard that they can get paper and envelopes. If they can get these items can you tell me how often and how many they give them? I also heard that they only give them these items if they don't have any money on their books to buy them. I need to know facts not rumors.

Thanks for your help.

My boyfriend told me that he got some envelopes (from the State) because he didn't have any money on his books and he wanted to write to me and let me know where was at, I was just wondering if they can get those anytime or is there a limit? He told me that they gave them to him because he doens't have any money on his books because he just got there but I don't think that's the case. A friend of mine was in last year and he got them too and he had money on his books. I just try to keep up with things cause you know at times they like to tell stories about how they obtain things in there. He was suppose to be writing every day but he used that as the excuse why he hasn't been, he didn't have any envelopes. I'm not sure where the paper came from that he had unless he had it when he got there.
Thanks for your help though. I only sent 5 envelopes and I send 10 sheets of paper it might have been 25 sheets I don't remember. They moved him 3 times since he's been there so the mail I sent is going to 3 different addresses right now.

it all depends on the yard they are in. but as long as their cdc# on it it will get there. also send visiting forms directly to the visiting seargent and adress it to the prison address on cecil.

I suzywuzy-

The supplies are a one tim ething when they first get there. After that they need to get it themselves, or borrow from other inmates. Hope this helps.
Stay safe.

I DID NOT HAVE SEND THE FORM FOR CALIPATRIA TO A VISITNG SERGENT AND I WAS APPROVED. WHY DO YOU HAVE TO SEND IT TO THEM FOR NKSP? CANT YOU JUST INCLUDE IT IN THE LETTER???WE ARE NOT IN A BIG RUSH TO BE APPROVED SO COULD THAT BE WHY?

I sent my husband two notebooks with 80 sheets of paper in 2 different envelopes around 3-4 days apart. The last one I sent they returned it to me so I guess he received the other one. So, I am going to try it again. I guess it just depends on who checks the mail.

Not to change the subject of what can be sent to NKSP because I know how much it means to the guys. I am more concerned about where my son will be sent when he leaves reception. In the CA prison system are any prisons considered better than others. He will be a level 3 first timer. Any input would be appreciated.

Worried for my son.

 I am completely clueless on what I can send to my boyfriend in NKSP! He is still in reception and he has asked me to send him some paper and pencils but I don't know the amounts he can have at one time. Also I know in county they are only allowed to get 10 pages per letter is that the same with prison? Does anyone know how to get ahold of the mailroom or does someone have a number I can call for more info?? Any help would be appriciated:p

The following is from the CDC handbook, hope this helps you out.

Items Allowed that you can send to a Reception Center Inmate

50 Sheets of blank letter sized writing paper (you can send yellow or white letter sized legal lined paper removed from its binder)
1 book of 20 count stamps or 20 pre-stamped envelopes available from your post office. (Some Institutions do not allow stamp books or loose stamps)
10 4x6 photographs per mailing. On the back write your inmates name and CDC number.
1 Pack of 5 count clear Bic pens in their original unopened packaging.
Special Occasion Cards. (Cannot include any type of metal, springs, decals, scents, music makers, ect.)
Items/Articles from the Internet. You may include articles, items and pictures obtained from the Internet in your correspondence. It is suggested that you copy the matter from the Internet and paste it to a blank word document. Some institutions do not allow writings that include a URL on the top or bottom of the page.Sending Money Orders

Money Orders for Inmate Trust Accounts. It’s best to send a U.S. Postal Money Order. Make the M.O. payable to your inmate and include his housing #, bunk #, Facility address, City and State. (M.O.s are applied to the inmates trust account within 1-2 weeks of receipt. As of Jan 01, 2005 the CDC takes 44% of all funds sent to an inmate for the CA victims restitution fund. Effective Jan 01, 2007 this amount will increase to 55%. You may include your M.O.s in letters to your inmate and it is removed by the mailroom.)When sending a stationary package to a reception center inmate, include the above items in a 10x15 or 12x15 manila envelope. State on the outside of the envelope the contents inside to assist mailroom personnel.

Reception Center Inmates cannot receive any books, magazines or publications. Do not use any type of labels, decals, glitter or scents.
