Hi! Just wanted to introduce myself as a new member. My name is Sally and I'm from the UK. I have been writing to my friend Joseph since April 2005, who is on DR in California.

I saw this website and wanted to join as I thought it might help me to keep my motivation up. I sometimes find writing to Joseph very difficult as it is easy to get caught up in daily life. I have a very demanding job and snatching a few minutes here and there to write can be difficult. Does anyone else find this?

I look forward to chatting to you all :)

Hi , I'm also from the Uk and yes sometimes there aren't enough hours in the day. If I haven't got time to write a long letter I just send a nice card with a poem or something in it. That way at least they are getting some mail and they do love their cards.

Hi, and welcome. I agree with nuttybabe, if things are a little busy, a card with a few, well chosen words will lift my angel's spirits and make him smile. Or, you could print some puzzles, crosswords and wordsearches off the net and send them with a short note...

Hi I am from the UK too and I have penpals in Arizonia, Florida, Texas and Oklahoma. Yep daily life does get in the way (you can tell by the amount of times I have posted, ha ha). Yep sending a card, or sometimes I have found downloading a few comic strips and jokes useful (Just bare in mind their different states of minds and personalities) . Hope you enjoy the site!

Greetings Sally,

I am new too. I have been writing my death row pen friends for years now and do have times when it is hard to write. Typically I write on all the even numbered days, I like to keep mail mail regular and flowing because in FL on the row they are locked in their cells 23 hours a day alone. On days when I can't think of what to write or don't have time to write I'll usually write a few lines (sometimes as few as two) and cut and paste something tasty or interesting I found on the net, enclose a few Sudoku Puzzles and mail it off to them. I also buy stacks of postcards and keep them in my purse with the stamps put on them so I can drop them a few lines on the fly. Of coarse I make up for all this a neglect when I get the time or back into my writing frame of mind. They understand we have lives we are living out here. I have encouraged my pen friends to write as many people as they can to keep themselves busy, active, and have ties to the free world. Sadly, Florida will not allow pen pal ads any more so I know that some of them are really lonely. Sometimes I hunt around the net for the online drawing lessons you can print out to send to them so they can have something to work on that only requires pencil or pen. I aslo keep a stack of romantic, friendship, and thank you cards on my desk and stamps, so when I am really bogged down I can just shoot out a fast card while I wait for the oven timer to ding.
