I have a prepaid account with Correctional Billing that my husband calls me on and got wondering today if CA uses CBS or not.

I have been on hold with CBS for at least 20 minutes waiting and still no answer. I am specificly trying to find out if Kern Valley uses CBS. If they dont do they have any other pre paid options.

I am almost positive that all CA state prisons use MCI.

Does CA have any other Pre-Paid options? I'm not looking for something all the time, but an occassional phone call. Any information would be great help

If it is CBS, you can set up prepaid with them at the drop of a hat. I'd try calling early morning/early afternoon (Central Time) to get it set up though. ANd they'll charge you a fee of $8 to make payments by phone, but after the first payment (via phone) you can mail in money orders.

All of this phone stuff confuses me so forgive me for sounding dumb, but does MCI have anything to do with Evercom? I talked to CBS yesterday and they couldnt see that they handle Kern Valley, but I am nervous to take their word just yet because they keep telling me they handle Newton where my husband is about to be moved and Newton says they have never heard of CBS so....*shrug*

The last thing the lady at CBS told me is if they use Evercom then CBS will work
