I`M TRYING TO FIND INFORMATION ON THE CALIFORNIA CORRECTIONAL CENTER IN SUSANVILLE. AS USUAL WE`VE HEARD ALOT OF "BAD" GOSSIP ABOUT THIS PLACE AND I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM ANYONE THAT KNOWS FACTS. MY BROTHER WAS JUST TRANSFERRED TO THE FIRECAMP AT THIS FACILITY. THANK YOU FOR ANY INFO!!

Ok-so first of all, every place has that "bads" & no one tends to focus on the "goods", thats why :D My boyfriend just got to CCC a couple weeks ago, and tells me it's mainly older men in their. He said it seems to him just like Boot Camp, and it's fairly easy to him. He's a level 3 and isn't in fire camp training. What yard is your loved one in?

Thats all I really know about CCC. When I went to visit, it seemed very low-key & calm. But who knows what goes on behind the walls. I'm sure you'll get tons of info. here at this forum from the other girls :thumbsup:

My husband was on the level one yard back in 2000. He said about the opposite of Confused Girl. Bunch of youngsters acting like they had something to prove; he did not like it there. BUT... I don't know if that is where the fire camp guy go, or if they have their own yard.

CCC has it's ups and downs like all prisons. It all depends on your brother. My man said as long as he kept to himself he was good. If he was affilited with any gang before and is a known gang member they get a harder time. It also depends on what yard he grts put on. My man also says firecamp is great.

My husband was there for about 7 months this past year. It was not a nice place, especially for visiting. They are extremly racist and treat the visitors as if they are inmates. they had me thinking it was the norm for prison. My husband stayed to himself and just talked to the older guys...cuz yes there are alot of younger guys trying to prove something. One time I went visit and had to wait almost 3 hours because they had sent my husband back to shave his face....said he had a shadow and they only open the gates on a time schedule. I could go on an on about diffrent expierences I have had there. CCC is defnietly in the business to demean you. I know it is not necessary and not the norm because none of that stuff goes on where my husband is know!

My brother-in-law works at HDSP and he says that CCC is better. So does some CO's that work at CCC. I have visited HDSP before and it seemed okay but never CCC. It is said by the CO's that work there it is more laid back then HDSP and that they are not on lockdown as much. Hope that helps a little.

Hi, CCC is not a firecamp but is a firecamp training facility. Not all inmates qualify for firecamp though. It is a level 1,2 and 3 prison. If they qualify for firecamp training they will complete a physical then a physical fitness test. If they pass this they can then go through the training. The process of all this can take months. If they pass the training they just wait for a camp assignment and this can take a while too. Well hope this helps some. My son was on Cascade but he never said he hated it or liked it either way. But he has nothing to compare it to except reception at high desert and he really hated that.

Same here, like momuvjosh. My boyfriend was in reception in HDSP and hated that. When i went for visiting they were all pretty friendly. I guess it just depends on the circumstances, and your loved one :) Good luck though!

EVERYONE CAN TELL YOU DIFFERENT STORIES BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT IS THAT IF YOUR BROTHER WANTS TO STAY LOW AND DO HIS TIME FROM WHAT MY HUSBAND SAYS THIS IS THE PLACE TO BE AT. MY HUSBAND IS 32 AND HAS A LONG HISTORY IN THE PRISON SYSTEM AND WITH GANG ACTIVITIES, BUT NOW 6 KIDS LATER AND NOT LOOKING TO CATCH A THIRD STRIKE HE KEEPS HIMSELF BUSY BECAUSE HE HIS A TRAINER IN LEVEL 1(CASCADE YARD) AND HE JUST MINDS HIS OWN. LIKE I SAID HE HAS A LOT OF YEARS UNDER HIS BELT AND WHAT HE DOES MOSTLY IS SQUASH ALL THE DRAMA THAT CAN EASILY BE SET OFF IN HIS DORM AND TALK THINGS OUT LIKE GENTLEMEN. Hi, well my son is in ccc and a level 3 like confusedgirl6 says, my son also said that there are mainly older men there, but funny when I went to visit him I saw quite a few young men. The guards were very nice and treated everyone at least that day with respect. the guards in the visiting area were very nice and easy going. You know you have your good ones and your bad ones. I have seen both on this side of the bars so I can imagine how they are when you have to deal with them on the other side. But in their defence they have to deal with alot of stuff.

I agree with most of what everyone else said.

My man has been quite a few places (prisons that is) and tells me as far as politics, it is pretty quiet and he is able to lay low and do his program. Only one lockdown for my guy since December when he arrived there and he hasn't gotten into the mix. This is a nice change. However, it is prison.

And CRAP it is in the middle of nowhere and to visit we have to make it a "trip" where we spend the night and stuff, and it sure is hard to get to in the winter!!!! Visiting was ok. I have visited at prisons where they are more liberal about touching/kissing. I was treated respectfully by the staff. They did take a freaking long time to bring my guy out, one time almost an hour and a half.

Eowyn, an hour and a HALF? When me and my daughter got into the visiting room, my man had been waiting their for 15 MINTUES! LOL, isn't that crazy!

My Brother Just Got There A Day Or Two After Easter And I`ve Only Recieved One Letter So Far. I`m Still Fighting With Mci, Which I Hate, So His Calls Can`t Come Through Yet. I Think He May Have Been A Bit Confused On Where He Was Actually Going, He Passed The Physical For Fire Camp While At Wasco And His Councilor Gave Him Three Prisons That He Could Get. He Did Get Susanville, But I`m Not Clear As To What Yard Or Anything. He`s 44 And Says He Just Barely Made The Age Cut Off. He Really Wants Firecamp Bad, I Hope He Gets It!!! Thanks For All The Info. Oh Yeah, He Does Keep To Himself And Is`nt Tied To Any Gangs. I Pray He Won`t Have To Go That Route.
