You are not going to believe this. Last night I decided to go visit my son early and arrived to the Harris County Jail at 4:30pm thinking I was early and would be able to get in and out before people started to arrive. WRONG!! I think some of these people live in the waiting area at the Harris County Jail. The line was all the way to the door so my wait lasted one hour until I was able to get to the window. Just as I was going through the doors to visit my son I was asked to come back to the window. YIKES!! My heart dropped when the guard said Lady you have a speeding ticket and a warrent is going out for your arrest. Oh my God! I had two choices, go take care of the ticket or go to Jail. I ran for the doors...LOL
I never knew they checked visitors. I could not see my son after an hour wait. Now I know why those people the Guards have in handcuffs and walk them out is all about...:D warning those who go visit their loved ones. Make sure your driving record is clear and and you have no warrents or not wanted by Harris County for any reasons. They will add you to their guest list!! Jeannie

I've always said that they check out the visitors on the county-level. Once when I visited my honey in Orange County, they arrested two people as they were leaving the visiting area.

Hope you get things straightened out quick and get to visit your son soon!!

Yes, They do a full check on you. Even though you were not able to see your son, you were very lucky. They take people to jail everyday here, in Houston, for this.

Yes they always check your info at 701 N. San Jacinto. I thought everyone knew that. Unless it has changed they didn't check that when you went to 1200 Baker or 1301 Baker, last time I went in those. You need to also make sure you have a valid DL or ID also. I seen plenty of people being turned away for expired id's.

All ID's at 1200 Baker have to be updated and valid, seeming they put the info into the computer! Don't forget the rules about dress, etc I have seen many turned away due to this!

txfmhstn, the entire time I have been going I never wittnessed them check on my ID but you're right they check. I posted Bond on my ticket so I should be fine to go back until my next court date. I stayed away this weekend till my info hits their system. As far as my dress code goes that will never be an issue, I dress to code. It's amazing though I see so many Women walk in almost half naked and they get away with it. It all depends on the guard who is in the front checking. Thanks for the replies. Jeannie

Texasfem, are you saying that they "selectively enforce" the dress code? ;)

LOL@ Asha

You would be surprised at how selective they actually are. I come into the jail with as much clothing on as possible but little other stuff as possible!
